I went to the Quest 3 and it is worlds different due to the better resolution. I actually enjoy watching movies on Prime with the 3. I just wish there were 3D movies to watch, I don't know of any other than Tron: Legacy and I haven't seen that offered (in 3D) on Prime.
The quest 2 is for children. A little harsh but just go and test them yourself.
Meta hard REQUIRES an SMS login code for 2FA, but their servers never send the code to your number. It's a problem that persists across headsets and their website. You can Google it.
So if you are planning to use this without an Instagram or Facebook account, just realize that eventually you'll likely be locked out of your paid content with no recourse because Meta is a terrible slapdash company that can't even implement account recovery.

Pay $200 for the 2 and regret it because it never gets used.
Pay $200 for the 2 and love VR, regret you didn't pay the extra $300 to get the 3.

I haven't tried the Quest 3 yet. I am sure it is much better than the Quest 2. How is the black level on the Quest 3?
For $200 the Quest 2 is definitely worth a shot if you want to try out VR. If you don't mind spending more than get the Quest 3. The issue is will you like VR and actually use it? If you get the Quest 2 and don't like VR you only dropped $200. If you do like it you can always sell the Quest 2 and upgrade down the road.

With the extras we bought it's another $75-$100. Much happier paying $300 than over $600.
The 2 is a great entry system. I would rather pay $200 to see if I like it, see if I would use it, then pay $500 and not use it. Since we do like it, we might upgrade in a few years.

$600 isn't something I can just throw around. Honestly, even now, knowing we like the 2, I don't think we would spend $600 (with accessories) for the 3. It's just too much.
Really, the kids play it 99% of the time. The adults not much. The 2 is even better for that.
Glad the 2 is an option.

Not a replacement for just watching on a tv.
