Quest 2 is still good, especially if you're new to VR. Quest 3 would be a better purchase once you're sure you like it and it's not gonna sit in the closet unused after the first few weeks.

is the quest 2 still good to get or might as well pay double and get quest 3?

Don't forget the $30 credit to have someone refer you before you activate the headset. There's also 25% off apps >$10 if someone refers you a specific app.

Can this be used to watch movies. I don't play games?
It can, but the resolution makes it less than ideal. Like watching through a screendoor or watching a movie with 720p.

I went to the Quest 3 and it is worlds different due to the better resolution. I actually enjoy watching movies on Prime with the 3. I just wish there were 3D movies to watch, I don't know of any other than Tron: Legacy and I haven't seen that offered (in 3D) on Prime.

Does this one give you the ability to project your Xbox or ps4 on it so you don't need a tv? I know the 3 can but how is this one's quality if it's possible

Of course he is right. Idk what that guy is smoking but I bought the quest 2 AND 3 and tested them side by side. Needless to say, it was exchanged for a quest 3. There's no competition at that price point.

The quest 2 is for children. A little harsh but just go and test them yourself.
My daughter refused to use the Quest 1 I had after I got the 3. The 3 is the first time I actually enjoyed VR. I have the Index and while I enjoyed it, it was always a pain to set up to play since I don't have a designated VR space. Q3 I can have set up and running in about 2 minutes with my computer for PCVR. Without PCVR and as a stand alone, it is instant. Boot up, start to play.

Decided to mess around with my quest 2 after not using it for a while only to be locked out completely.

Meta hard REQUIRES an SMS login code for 2FA, but their servers never send the code to your number. It's a problem that persists across headsets and their website. You can Google it.

So if you are planning to use this without an Instagram or Facebook account, just realize that eventually you'll likely be locked out of your paid content with no recourse because Meta is a terrible slapdash company that can't even implement account recovery.

Definitely get the Quest 3. I didn't use my Quest 1 as much as I do the Quest 3, because of the headaches and the feeling I was looking through a screen door. Quest 3 I would say is the bare minimum for VR to be comfortable and enjoyable. I also have the Steam Index and didn't use it as much as I would have liked due to resolution and constant issues setting up.

Quest 2 vs 3 argument is as old as time.

Pay $200 for the 2 and regret it because it never gets used.

Pay $200 for the 2 and love VR, regret you didn't pay the extra $300 to get the 3.

Pay $500 for the 3 and regret it because it never gets used.

The quest 3 imo is a generational upgrade but this is $200 which is less than half of the cheapest quest 3 plus the headphones are a nice bonus. If you're not sure if you'll like it, and might just pop it on to play the occasional beat saber, this is perfectly fine. If you're in it for the long haul, I would recommend the quest 3.

I have owned a few PCVR headsets in the past and now own the Quest 2. The Quest 2 resolution is definitely far from great. Upgrading the strap makes a big difference because the headset will hold in the sweet spot better. It still isn't great but for most people it is adequate and they can have a lot of fun using the Quest 2. The black level on the other hand is terrible. Dark gray is the closest you will get to actual black. This isn't noticeable in most games but in dark games it is extremely noticeable.

I haven't tried the Quest 3 yet. I am sure it is much better than the Quest 2. How is the black level on the Quest 3?

For $200 the Quest 2 is definitely worth a shot if you want to try out VR. If you don't mind spending more than get the Quest 3. The issue is will you like VR and actually use it? If you get the Quest 2 and don't like VR you only dropped $200. If you do like it you can always sell the Quest 2 and upgrade down the road.

We somewhat fall into this category, but I am happy we went with the 2.

With the extras we bought it's another $75-$100. Much happier paying $300 than over $600.

The 2 is a great entry system. I would rather pay $200 to see if I like it, see if I would use it, then pay $500 and not use it. Since we do like it, we might upgrade in a few years.

Exactly! Then if you do upgrade you can sell the Quest 2 or give it someone you can play games against. I know the Quest 2 is far from perfect but it is still a lot of fun playing games on it.

Yep.
$600 isn't something I can just throw around. Honestly, even now, knowing we like the 2, I don't think we would spend $600 (with accessories) for the 3. It's just too much.

Really, the kids play it 99% of the time. The adults not much. The 2 is even better for that.

Glad the 2 is an option.

Tried it on the quest 3. Youtube videos are too pixely and blurry. Movies are out of the question.

Not a replacement for just watching on a tv.
I beg to differ. I've been watching Netflix on my Quest 3 and it feels like I'm at the theater. It puts you in a picturesque Mountain cabin and the screen is huge like in a theater. The sound quality is also great and it's surround sound
