It's actually a pretty capable mini gaming box. I threw SteamOS on mine and am having a blast.
I've never tried SteamOS, but I have tried amazon luna and GeforceNow. I'm assuming that's a similar streaming service where the games run remotely so you don't need much video performance?
It would be totally fine for some types of games, but I wasn't satisfied with either streaming service I tried with fast first person shooters. Better than nothing, but not as good as a cheap video card running the game locally like a 6600xt.

Bad assumption with OS in the name. It's a Linux distro developed by Valve. Steam decks run on it. Not cloud offering as the services you compared it with.
Amazon has all these for a $10 premium for those that don't want to wait eons for it to be shipped and also want better customer service in case you need to return it.

I know it's a version of linux, but I thought it's purpose was to be a thin gaming client for remote streaming, don't see the point otherwise.
I've never bothered to try it because they don't have the only game I still play any more, and I don't even play that one much.
That site gives the 5600g +3% effective speed over this 7940hs.
That's not to say the 5600g is faster in all respects, it's obviously not, but the gpu in this will seriously limit what it's capable of.
When looking it up I also sought to compare the GPU effective speed and found this:
"AMD's Radeon 780M integrated graphics get close to GTX 1650"
So basically not that much above the integrated graphics in the 5600g, but with a 5600g desktop you're not limited to the built in GPU.
I have two hp desktops with 5600g and 5700g, and rx5500 and 6600xt video, both are better gaming systems and the cheaper one was only $200 as a refurb and it came with ram and ssd and windows license, that's not a barebones price. Even the cheap one came with a 400w power supply, so it's not limited to the slow video card it came with either.
I'm sure some people will have special use cases where video speed plays no role, but that's probably not most people.

A chip like this with integrated GPU will appear crippled in that regard even compared to really cheap and older discrete graphics cards and older processors.
This processor absolutely leads a 5600g desktop in raw processing power, but that alone doesn't mean anything in gaming.
Benchmarks don't make your system feel fast to the average user.
Also, most games are still only optimized for 4-6 cpu cores and they're highly GPU dependent so all that speed shown in benchmarks isn't being achieved.

Did most of the people reach out to you and inform that they don't need these kind of systems? What you're doingg here is justifying the usecases for others based on your own predifined mindset for your type of works or usecases. But the thing is on the on the contrary, these mini PCs have been gaming popularity continiously for the last couple of years and there are plenty use cases. As per the analysis done by Allied Market Research, the mini PC market was of 22.1 Billion Dollar and it is going to be a whopping $33 Billion by 2032.
Even in this thread, plenty of people mentioned different usecases and the thing is gaming is never the main usecase for these kind of PCs. Look for some other threads for similar mini PC deals and you'll see that people have been discussing tons of different usecases for these Mini PCs.
Just want to throw it out there: the next gen apu, which suppose to debut starting fall of this year, would almost double the graphic performance, make it actually game ready.
The current apu (which I have) is just too slow to run most game at 1080 high at stable 60 fps
