These are nice cards, but are really large compared to the common 2-fan 7700xt models that run only $40 more. Case compatibility of the XFX cards in particular can be a concern given their length. I also anticipate further discounts on the 7000 line which has really clogged up around that $400-$550 pricepoint with the 7700xt / 7800xt and 7900 gre... plus the remaining stock of 6750xt's which can be had for nearly $100 less (at least for the XFX example) which is around a 25% discount for a 15% loss of performance. because my $380 3070 from 1+ years ago can do it properly at 1440p, that's the benchmark
Depends on what you think "properly" is, but the majority of people do not share your opinion. Honestly anything below a 4070 super I'd never even consider enabling ray tracing

Hardware unboxed did a whole video on the rtx 3070 vs the rx6800. The rtx 3070 fails at ray tracing at 1440p against the rx6800 in many cases due to its limited vram.
