One of the lowest prices this CPU has ever been, $30 cheaper than it was on sale 2 weeks ago. Of course there is a catch, which is in store only.

3D Cache CPU's are only useful for gaming, but mostly at 1080P or 1440P resolutions at extremely high refresh rates that are only useful for extremely high refresh rate monitors. Gamers that find this useful are into competitive First Person Shooters because it gives advantages in certain tactics like peek and shoot. These are the types of games that typically experience CPU limitation, because refresh rates are in the multiple hundreds which stresses the CPU. But at 4k gaming that is never an issue.

You can get a clue that you're CPU limited by lowering the resolution or quality settings. If your frame rates don't increase, then it's probably because the CPU is limiting frame rates.

A few very recent games can experience CPU limitation at 4k. Such as the recently released Star Wars Survivor. Starfield is also CPU intensive, but maybe only with a 600 Watt massive Nvidia 4090 will you notice a difference. And the difference won't really be enough yet to really be noticeable in these games.
I'll bite at 150 if it doesn't happen no worries I'll run my 2700x to the ground till I'll upgrade to next gen.
If you really don't need to upgrade and your performance is good enough already, you are better off saving the money now and waiting a couple of years. But, that little number showing FPS won't be quite as high, ha!

I'm with you on that sentiment, but at the same time, any zen3 chip is an insane upgrade over the 2700x, and the 5700x3d is probably 50% faster in games. I'm on a 5700x and kind of regretting not having an x3d chip, but it's still plenty fast in games and will last me til am6.

hmmm i have an aliexpress ryzen 5600 i got for like 85, but this would cost me probably 200

i have a 3070, and if i instead put about 115 towards that, i could probably end up getting a 3080, which would serve me better than a cpu upgrade :/

Currently running a Ryzen 5 3600 with a 3070 and 32 GB of RAM on a B450 board. Would it be worth it to get this or jump into the new (to me) generation of products?

I'm in the same boat except I have a 3600x. I struggle with whether I should buy it or not. I only use my computer to game but I don't game as much as I would like too. Maybe when and if it drops to $150?

Oh man…I've been looking at this for so long. I have a 5500 and 6700xt and all I really play is CS2. I just don't know if it's worth keeping AM4 alive or whether I should bite and get the 7700x bundle for $370. Or, just keep doing nothing because, I really don't need to upgrade. Man this is tempting though.

So you are the one who keeps killing me in cs2 😆
Anyone who only plays one game must be a master leveled assassin by now. 🤪 😜 🤪
Try more games like Elden Ring or Cyberpunk with max graphics and then see 👀 if you need an upgrade. But if this is the only type of game you play, then just keep it for another 2-4 years.

i don't plan on upgrading yet, i like staying cheap
my itx 5600 + 3070 build cost me 442~

if i find a good deal on a 3080, like around 300, i may jump on that and sell my 3070

though i got my 3070 brand new :/
