The rz 50 is closer to the vsx 505. It's the next step up from the every level onkyo that comes with Dirac. Is it the 7100 maybe?
No...I own the Onkyo RZ50
Again..no issues with any HDMI switching

One in "fair" condition by me for $320. I would typically steer clear of "fair". Is it that good a deal to risk it?
probably means you get nothing but the receiver itself

No remote, calibration mic I would imagine
Both can probably be bought on Ebay and you can download the setup guide/manual from the company website

I meant is the 7100 the next step down from the RZ 50. And the RZ 50 is definitely a step up from the vsx 305

True what this reviewer says? "DIRAC Live can only calibrate speakers on a Horizontal Plane and is only capable of 8 channels, and that includes your subwoofer"

I would be getting this only to upgrade from 5.1.2 to 5.1.4 and for Dirac Live. So Dirac Live wouldn't be all that great after all due to the atmos height speakers and having 10 in total?

Well the 7100 is mainly only a step down to the RZ50 because pre outs & 20 watts which is pretty minor difference.
This is Pioneer's version of the 7100.

Unless you regularly listen at very high levels with very inefficient speakers, very unlikely you'll hear much audible differences especially for the price.
You get the exact same Dirac Live that is on the RZ50.

No Dirac Live algorithm/software will "correct" your loudspeakers, 9 in this case.

It will not use its sub/bass algorithm/software(Dirac Live Bass Control) to "correct" the sub.
It uses the AVRs bass management to do it.

Everyone in here finds no value in DLBC so that may not be of value to you.

I box a refurb unit in "excellent" condition. A year or so again and I hate it. It takes forever to switch sources. To the point the no signal sign on the tv comes on and then the source comes up.

Between that and the delay when switching between apps, youtube channels using an apple tv without earc, it's awful. I think the daughter board is crapping out. Just like ony Onkyo RZ 720 7.1 receiver and pioneer and Onkyo are the same product. This time I'm using my warranty even if I have to pay $100 bucks to ship it
Bought one new and it's being serviced for that and other things as well. Very frustrating for an advanced receiver to operate worse (in some respects) than the Pioneer Elite receiver it replaced

Good luck finding one in here, I haven't.

Especially when everyone in the RZ50/7100/505/305 threads ALL say it's not needed.

Even in the RZ70/805 threads no one brings it up, all about benchmarks.
BTW to get it on those, it's gonna cost you about 6x this price AND $500 on top of that for it!!

" here" is more representative of slick deals ..Even then there are people who have higher end uses that have bought DLBC here
Outside of Slick deals its a significant( relatively speaking) market..or so it seems
There are definitely people in the RZ70 threads, AVS, that have bought DLBC

I even saw a couple of buyers that bought it as a dedicated pre/pro and didnt even use its very capable amp section

But different markets have different expectations and pay a price accordingly
For example, there are people on AVS that obsess about products passing the Audio Science review testing

On Slick deals that's not really even a concern it seems

100 watts per channel is only for two speakers. You're probably looking at closer to 75 watts per channel running all the speakers. I hear the power draw caps out at 750 watts max from wall outlet.

Personally, I find my current pioneer elite at 100 watts per channel to be a little bit limited in volume

Probably depends on your speakers.

I haven't had any issues driving the JBL 590s 600 series or klipish RP series with this. Ears give up before the receiver running 9 channel stereo.

I dont think the receiver is great deal at MSRP but is a great value for 350.
