And it said I'm eligible! I'm shocked because nowhere in my work employee discount portal does it mention Samsung. It explicitly mentions many other companies but not a single trace of Samsung anywhere.
Give it a try if you haven't already.

Every single monitor or TV thread, you get at least one guy saying something exactly like this.
Looks like to Samsung's policies to return monitors is 5% restocking + shipping.
Debating if I should go G7 for $450 or if the G8 OLED is worth a hundred dollars more at $550.

From testing, I'd personally would want my eyes to be 3-4 feet away from the screen which isn't feasible in my setup.
Since this is an uncurved VA panel, you do lose some color on the edges when sitting closer than 3 feet.
I would prefer if it weren't matte, but I think it's a better matte coating than my other monitors. Local dimming is good. You see blooming at times, but at night it definitely looks better than my other monitors. No you aren't going to mistake it for a glossy panel OLED, but in the dark it often gets not far off.
HDR is OK. I think reviewers say 600 nits with >300 zone local dimming or oled is the minimum you need where HDR makes a difference. I agree with that.
There is an issue where text looks horrible in desktop with HDR enabled in windows. From googling this is very common in many 4k HDR monitors. So if I keep it, I will probably learn the hotkey to turn HDR on/off.
It seems most of the negative reviews are about the software. I agree it takes too many clicks to do things and switching inputs isn't intuitive but it's still far better than any monitor software I've used.
I think most likely I'll go back to my 34" ultra-wide. Until the universe releases a 4k 36"- 37", I think that's the best size on a normal desktop setup.
