Worked for about a year and was good enough. The AA wireless device (different device than this) has a slew of features and an app. The feature I ended up needing was to scale the android auto interface differently than OEM. It also switches between Apple and Android for those of you who also live in a house divided. Still a good deal for this one if you want a basic device.

Some newer cars don't have wireless android auto only wired AA by plugging in. This is nice to fix that and keeping your phone in your pocket

It has an old school orange text type calculator screen. And yes, like I said it was a boring car when it came out.

I had cars that were even older with GPS and displays, but not the current beast.

Had this worked well with few disconnections everyone once and a while. Eventually I switched back to a high quality USB a to c and that fixed all my disconnect issues in my Honda
Which wire did you use? I have a honda accord 2018 and have been using anker wires and they kinda suck.

Bummer, guess you need a new enough car to have a screen Smilie
My son has a 16 year old Corolla. I replaced the factory stereo with a 2-din Android Auto/Apple CarPlay head unit for less than $200 including wire harness and dash kit. Working great and feels more modern.

Bought AA Wireless instead of this MA1 to make it wireless. Supports both Android and iPhone.

i remember buying it for $80+tax 2 years ago but returned it after 1 or 2 use as the phone battery drop with my S22 Ultra was huge - 18% for 1hr drive. Ordered it again as i have to use $13 Target Circle Rewards which is about to expire next month good timing - also hope my current phone S24 Ultra can handle it better.

What's the appeal of this device besides being able to connect wirelessly? Immediate drawbacks that come to mind are that it adds another interface layer between the car and the phone, plus I don't get to charge the phone anymore while driving either.
Lessens wear and tear on your phone and car's USB port since you won't have to plug/unplug your USB cable. My phone remains in my pocket since I drive less than an hour. Besides...my car's built-in charger is a slow charger...so I bought a fast charging USB adapter instead in case I need to charge. This allows me to fast charge and still connect to Android Auto.

Thank you, for the reply and the feedback. I was mostly curious, though, about what the benefits of having an Android Auto device are? Is it basically just a glorified Bluetooth connection device? Or is there more to it, than that?
Android Auto/Apple CarPlay are more than just glorified Bluetooth. Android Auto/Apple CarPlay allow you to project certain phone apps to a large screen in your car. Makes it much easier when using Waze, Spotify, replying to text messages/answering or making calls w/o touching your tiny phone screen, etc.

carlinkit 5.0 is way better than this. MA1 is very less reliable and does not hold up well in heat.

Couldn't resist the price and picked one up. It is someone's return or refurb. The box not sealed, no protective plastic on the unit, manual's corner unnaturally folded. I could at least check the box right by the counter and demand the replacement. Oh well... As they say, what you pay is what you get.
Going back tomorrow.

Update: OOS at my Target. Shipping only.
Same to me. Picked up a used one. Connected, worked fine

Like most people, I've had one for about 10 months and it died. I wouldn't waste the money. There are other options that are just as cheap and built to last.
