Worked for about a year and was good enough. The AA wireless device (different device than this) has a slew of features and an app. The feature I ended up needing was to scale the android auto interface differently than OEM. It also switches between Apple and Android for those of you who also live in a house divided. Still a good deal for this one if you want a basic device.

Some newer cars don't have wireless android auto only wired AA by plugging in. This is nice to fix that and keeping your phone in your pocket

Two weekends ago I bought a 2021 Volvo XC60. To my annoyance, the car had two USB-c ports for the rear passengers, while the console had two USB-a ports 🤷🤦. This model doesn't support Android auto or carplay wirelessly, and the console USB-a port designated for that connectivity, only supplies 15 watt charging. Though that's fast, my cigarette lighter adapter supplies 25 watts, which is super fast.

The MA1 was an inexpensive solution for my particular needs. I don't need to plug it in every time I get in the car, and if I need to charge the phone, I'm getting the fastest speed possible.

Someone mentioned one of the AA wireless adapters forcing the screen into full screen mode. That only works on a model that's capable of going full screen in the first place. Unfortunately for me, half of my screen is taken up by other Sensus connection options, and Volvo will not be updating it, since their new entertainment system is powered by Google.

Would you say it's a no go in places like South Florida? The car is always super hot when not driven with a/c on.

Tip: You must turn on wireless Android Auto in the phone settings to make it work after connecting your phone to the MA1. After that, everything works as expected.

Does the AAwireless unit support wireless car play too? I was reading through their website but couldn't find it anywhere.

I bought one shortly after the release and returned it because it was not possible to easily switch between 2 android phones. Is it still the case?
Pretty sure if you switch blutooth device on your car, this thing switches it.

I had mine for 11 months when it went into bootloop. This seems to be a common issue (atlease a year ago). I was able to get a new one under 1 year warrenty that comes by default.

I bought a cheap one on Amazon (Camecho wireless android auto car adapter, no longer available, hence no link) and it has been working great for now 6 months and cost $20. You can also turn a cheap rasperi Pi into one too.

What are the useful benefits that these things provide, that most people would actually use and appreciate having?

If you wouldn't mind replying and sharing some feedback about what this thing is generally good for, it would be appreciated.
I have a head unit that has Android Auto but only for a wired connection. This allows my phone to connect to it wirelessly. I just get in, turn on the engine and AA pops up after about 20 seconds. No need to remove my phone from my pocket and no need to have exposed wires and plug them into the phone.

It does as a beta function you need to turn on beta on the app then restart the device. Not standard /supported but works just fine as IOS device for wife and me Android.

It worked well when it worked it just broke and nothing could bring it back. I live in NJ just didn't die sooner due to the cold winter am sure. Didn't even bother trying to return it looking at all the complaints. Just get a AA I think they go on sale for 58$.

I didn't wanted Android wireless until I got the Moto one on clearance for 26$ on a target encase. But I don't think they are durable.

Why not just leave it plug in and charge the phone at the same time too. Wired is more stable too.
Each time getting in and out of the vehicle requires that it be plugged in and unplugged. Either wires need to be left hanging out and the phone stored somehow near where the wires is or the phone needs to be placed in storage and retrieved each time. $35 solves this each and ever time you'd get in and get out of the vehicle.

Can this thing play YouTube videos while parked or Netflix app? If not then not worth it for me.
No... because Netflix is not a supported app on AA. There are actually only a few apps that are.

The device is great and a HUGE convenience. But mine died in month 11 and Motorola has not responded to emails regarding warranty for about 2 months. it's probably safe to assume that the warranty is useless so don't count on it in case of a device failure. It's cheap enough to try again since it's so convenient. Using it in a 2021 Honda Pilot.
