Worked for about a year and was good enough. The AA wireless device (different device than this) has a slew of features and an app. The feature I ended up needing was to scale the android auto interface differently than OEM. It also switches between Apple and Android for those of you who also live in a house divided. Still a good deal for this one if you want a basic device.

Some newer cars don't have wireless android auto only wired AA by plugging in. This is nice to fix that and keeping your phone in your pocket

Garbage. Had two. Each lasted less than a year. Wired is just much easier since I know it works.
false. Wire disconnects just as much, both on Toyota and Subaru. it's an Google problem. I have Google 6Pro, should be 100% compatible but nope..

What's the appeal of this device besides being able to connect wirelessly? Immediate drawbacks that come to mind are that it adds another interface layer between the car and the phone, plus I don't get to charge the phone anymore while driving either.
Just buy a seperate DC plug that can charge your phone lol. I paired my MA1 with a Mophie snap+ wireless charger... works awesome

If you've never used wireless AA before, it may make your phone hot and drain the battery. I had one of these and quit using it for that reason but got a new vehicle with it and the same thing happened. I kept it wired all the time.
Funny because one big reason for wired AA is that it charges my phone while I drive.

Motorola MA1 is basically the only adapter licensed (cert) by Google. Motorola has MA1 "unavailable" since earlier this year, I have feeling they are discontinue this model?

It is suppose to be very good spec for little adapter..
Rockchip RK3308K ( Quad Core A35 1.3Ghz / USB2.0 that might be reason it runs hot )
AzureWave AW-CM390SM ( BT 5.0 with Wifi-AC combo )
SKhynix 4GB ddr3 ram
MXIC mx30lf SLC NAND Flash Parallel 3V/3.3V 4G-bit 512M x 8 25ns

That said, I have removed 2 EMI covers and running it "naked" literally 1 month after purchased. ( although def not recommended, but, I have good luck for few years )

I just got it yesterday and started having issues right away on my half hour drive. Connecting was easy enough, but started getting the error "Android device not responding" on my car every five minutes. This dongle got very hot too.
I had a similar problem. It paired fine and it was good for a drive or two but then started acting up. It would connect intermittently or not at all and getting some error.

I believe for me, the wifi was connecting to the MA1 but bluetooth wasn't, or vice versa. Check your settings on your phone and do the pairing again.

It's been flawless for me since then. The connectivity is so quick.

Mine kept making audible skips/clips when streaming spotify to the point where I just went back to the cable - not worth the trouble...

First, mine has been working, and still is, bought around release. Second, my usb interface to AA was slow charging, so I just got one of those usb super fast chargers that plug into the car accessory port (cig lighter) and I now have super fast charging or whatever it's called on my phone, it's been great. Plus I can use the usb for my earbuds that I keep in the car.

Pretty sure if you switch blutooth device on your car, this thing switches it.
If you have bt on you car, do you even need this?

Like TD mentioned above, if your vehicle doesn't have wireless AA, it saves you from using the cars proprietary port which doesn't charge very quick and you can use any car charger you like. While it does take 15 to 20 seconds to connect, it is also very convenient that you don't even need to know where your phone is and it automatically connects to AA. mine has been going strong for a couple of years. Just a heads up though, as someone else mentioned, it can drain your battery and heat up your phone. It did that to my previous phone but not my current one... Not sure if it was because of an update or because I have a new phone. I don't remember at what point my phone stopped getting hot. My current phone is the S24 Ultra
Due to continuous bt streaming?

Would it work in my situation? My car has BT, but is not AA compatible. Navigation from phone via USB is supposed to work, but it never does, so I 'm guessing this would be the same thing.

Me and my husband camped the target page refreshing it so much and still kept getting constantly sniped by the bots. Eventually managed to snagged one, though, still works great years later

I've gone through 2 of these both dying within a 12-18 month period much like many of the other folks here. I've now moved on to a non-name brand wireless adapter and have had a much better experience with faster connectivity and better support of multiple phones.

I wouldn't go back to the MA1 at it's normal selling price, but at this price it's worth giving it a shot even if it dies and stops working after a year.
