Quick Story about my warranty experience on the 49" OLED version G9, as I don't know where else to tell it:

I bought it on release back in Nov. 2023 and worked nicely until July 2024 when it had a screen blackout. Sound worked but no visuals. BTW - I also had the non OLED for 4 years with no issues. Warranty lasts for one year, so they said they would send out an authorized repair service.

Repair guy tried several things and could not get it to work, so he said he would have to order new parts or I could call Samsung, which I did. Samsung offered to replace it with a new one or a full refund (original out of pocket). I asked if they could upgrade me to this 57" mini-led version (more cost than I paid by several hundred $). After some back and forth, it seemed like an option. After it being out of stock locally, I tried again and it worked, they sent out the 57" Version.

Just sharing my experience with the customer service, the opportunity to upgrade if you have issues that can't be resolved, and the possibility of needing extra warranty.

We don't need the extra monitor!
Want to see your message in 6 months when it craps out on you.

Joke aside, this is the most amazing monitor i ever had a chance to use sadly built by a the most unreliable manufacturer for monitors!

You would need a relatively newer Mac to use this monitor because it doesn't have a Lightning port. Instead, you must use HDMI. My M1 Mac Pro has an HDMI 2.0 port, which cannot fully support this monitor. However, any newer Mac with HDMI 2.1 should be able to handle the monitor's default resolution and refresh rate. I've been using this monitor for 3-4 months now, and I love it. The only downside is that it doesn't have a Lightning port for Macs.

Do you mean Thunderbolt? So on this monitor, with a M3 macbook? you would have to use HDMI to HDMI cable AND a Thunderbolt to HDMI cable?

I am also due for a new PC, what class of graphics card is needed to drive this? I also would love to use the other 4K monitor on the side for slack/messaging/etc. The primary need is productivity, but there's no way I wouldn't play some AAA titles with this just for the experience, so I definitely don't want to skimp on the PC upgrade.

If there are any current deals I would love to take a look as well.

No, not for M3, as M3 supports HDMI 2.1. I was talking about Macs with M1. You should be good with M3. Yes, I meant Thunderbolt, sorry.

I got this last month to use with my m2 pro mbp. Current MacOS doesn't support snapping out of the box. So it is a bit harder to use.
Once I place the windows, I love the screen real estate and picture quality.
MacOS Sequioa will support snapping and that should make this monitor even better

I tried using picture by picture mode. But that lowers the refresh rate to 60hz. So it is a no-go. Plus, macos crashed whenever I disconnected while using PBP.

I am using Magnet, but there are even free alternatives like Rectangle if you don't want to wait for Sequoia

Oh! I didn't realize rectangle is free. Thanks for the tip! I will give it a try

Edit: Looks like it needs accessibility permission. Even though it is an open-source project, I am always skeptical

I'm gonna try. 15 day return window if it doesnt fit my needs and picked up the 4yr warranty (was offered 2yr for $1) if it does. Will try to sell the monitor to wash the warranty cost.

I also stacked this with an offer from my credit card for additional points on Samsung purchases.
