Anyone know how this compares to the Costco model? Both OLED just $100 less for 144hz I believe, cant tell about the smart TV aspect but I hear its terrible.

Since i love to save a little bit of money, I may upgrade my monitor once the price of a $1k monitor drops to $300. It'll happen in 5 years. guesstimate.

Be aware those monitors have a defect, look up white screen of death, after exactly 364 days mine died and it was a pain to argue with Samsung that I still have 24 hours warranty.

Good luck with that one. The lowest an ultrawide OLED like these has ever gotten is ~$600 for a refurbished one, and that was years after they were released.

If what you have works just enjoy the window shopping and keep the money in your wallet.

Samsung has reliability issues with their TVs too.

I agree with you in most situations. If you have a computer desk that faces up to a wall then the option to go with a large tv screen is probably the best option and cheaper. There are situations where having a monitor like this is more desireable. If you have a desk that is facing into a room and you want to be able to see over the monitor then it is more desireable to have two monitors side by side. If you don't want to have to deal with the borders of two monitors then this is basically the only real option. This is not the monitor I would recommend for gaming. 240 Hz is kind of overkill for this type of monitor imo and the vast majority would be better served to save money and get a lower refresh variant.
I own this monitor, and there are things I really like about it and some things that are very annoying. First of all, there is no video over USB-C.. Why samsung? Secondly it has been very difficult to find a HDMI 2.1 cable that plays nice with this monitor. I don't know why this is. Either the cable manufacturers are lying on amazon about their specs (which I def wouldn't put past them) or this monitor is VERY picky about its HDMI cable spec. Thirdly samsung has the stupidest "feature" where every time the monitor comes on from sleep mode, TWO stupid menus come up to obscure the bottom of the screen making you wait about 10 seconds before you can see your task bar. This cannot be disabled.
My eyes must not be good enough to see the difference between 240 Hz and 120 Hz because they seem interchangeable to me.
That being said for my use case this monitor has been very nice. I like the height adjustability and i like the pixel density. But for most people I would steer them toward the 21:9 aspect ratio monitors over this 32:9. Better game support, more useable for media consumption, etc.

Don't look at the MSI option. The smart features are useless.

Time along won't make this happen. There need to be better new technology and more compensations. I got the crg9 for ~1k in 2021. I think it came out in 2019. Searching here, it has barely dipped below 700 even though this superior OLED one has been around for a while now.
