I struggled through maybe 1/3 of the game or more. I feel like it's the worst of the main FF games. Fights are very basic and action based but in a boring way. Really not much rpg elements and the tone/story are nonstop dreary and depressing

I'm a huge FF fan since the beginning. This is my probably my favorite in the series. It is very mature and dark and drops the typical JRPG quirks.

The story and voice acting are absolutely fantastic. The game runs a bit long for itself but I say the first half is on par with Exp 33.

I've beaten every FF game other than the MMORPG entries, this one's pretty mid. If I had to rank them all I'd say 6, 7, 9, 10, 5, 13, 16, 4, 15, 12 (zodiac), 8, 3, 1, 2. Honestly I don't know why I even play them anymore, they've lost a lot of direction since the PS2 era. 8 needs quality of life improvements.

If you like classic Final Fantasy then you should play Like a Dragon, it's like a parody of FF and DragonQuest staring homeless Japanese people.

FF7 Remake, Expedition 33, and Person 5 Royal are also much better modern JRPGs and around the same price.

I agree with you the best FF (6), 2nd best FF(7) and worst FF (2), rest of the list is kinda all over the place... I place 4 much higher and then it gets pretty messy, but 2 is def the worst.

While it doesn't rank all that high in the Final Fantasy series for me overall, absolutely worth the $20 price tag here.

4 is really great but the party members jump in and out a lot making it difficult to care about. I think over time it got overshadowed by newer entries with more interesting mechanics. The twins/Tellah storyline is an all time best though. Maybe I'd swap it with 5 in my list but they're both kind of the same vintage.

The mid-tier entries are really held back by boring/terrible acting and stale tropes, the series is kind of a victim of its own longevity.

Re 16: Clive is really boring and Joshua moping about 'Uhhhhltima' gets pretty tiring. It doesn't help it came out around the same time as FF7 Rebirth where Cloud's mental stability is much more interesting in contrast. It would be nice if they had more betrayal or mixed motives in the modern games.

Agreed, this game doesn't deserve to be a mainline FF game... should have been a side FF game or just it's own game

Don't know why they consider it as an RPG... this is 90% action-based as it's made by the guy who made the Devil May Cry 5 battle system... which is disappionting because it's not that great compared to that, just OK.

I don't know what the fetish is of this FF game having a Game Of Thrones-like story... Feels so forced in this and I don't even think they committed to it. More than half way into it, it becomes much less violent and naughty compared to the demo and the first 1/3 of the game.

I'm hoping the team that made the FF7 Remake/Rebirth/Re-something trilogy will make the next FF mainline game.

Doing 12 dirty imo, to be fair I didn't like it the first time but the remake added qol improvements that were great
