In today's market is no one is building, as a builder I am sure of that. This means these CPUs are going to be on fire sales in a few more months of dreadful retail slump, unlike RAM and SSDs...

Just because no one can afford DDR5, it doesn't mean a DDR4 CPU sells at a markup like this.

That's exactly what it means. Even the used market for AM4 is inflated, and there are people paying it. This 5700x is almost sold out already, I just saw a 5800x3d used go for $400 on FB marketplace, and eBay is full of used AM4 for more than new retail. Unlike what economists would like to believe, consumers are not rational.

Have you tried finding a decent 12/13/14th gen Intel board these days that doesn't cost an arm or leg and doesn't throttle because the VRM's are crap?

No it isn't "sold out", you are not aware of the actual volume of product available. These listings are private party sellers on Amazon, same on ebay, etc. Low volume scalpers do not dictate the market, and the 5800X3D has been inflated since last year, the 5700X hasn't been. No economist thinks consumers are rational, nice try at making up something to argue against. The 5700X was a deal at $125 last fall, bought plenty for customers then. It's a pass at $220, obviously. Once retailers start really feeling the pain this spring, everything but RAM and SSDs will be clearance. Reminds me of the countless posts about GPUs never going down again a few years ago, yet us builders bought crates of them after the scalpers finally folded.

this is... not a good deal at all, when the 5800x is CHEAPER at 210

before anyone brings up how 5800x is a 120W part where as 5700X is 65W. know that you could run 5800X in 65W profile and turn that into 5700x

I didn't even offer 13/14th gen new for builds, Raptor Lake was garbage. Built and still build 12th gen, no issue finding boards or CPUs there, but obviously DDR4 is a problem for everyone right now.

Bought a 5800XT for $20 less than this a little over a month ago. I'm not sure this should be considered a good deal.

Raptor Lake is not fixed, I'm nearly 40 years in the industry, with a CE/EE background. You drank the Kool-Aid, never trust the marketing spin. There are plenty of LGA1700 boards that do not have VRM issues, throttling, etc. so that's not anything I need to answer for you, or where to find them...

Experience is no excuse for ignorance. I've built for decades and categorically there's no longer any issue so stop with the BS. And no, ALL micro boards have crippled VRM's with later bios.

Why do I even bother? Hopefully others will understand reason .. and FACTS.

Thanks for the reply, always nice to hear from DIY enthusiasts. Again, Raptor Lake's design defect was not fixed, nor could it be without costly microarchitectural revision and enterprise customer replacements. The updates were a series of mitigations, to avoid failure prior to useful service life end and warranty end. Still not sure why you insist on claiming "all micro boards" have VRM issues. These facts of yours, where are they again?
