VR-Tek Windows VR Glasses, FHD Resolution - 2560x1440 + $20 Steam GC
$29.99
VR-Tek Windows VR Glasses, Ultra HD Resolution 1440x1400 + $20 Steam GC
$44.99
There was a previous thread
HERE.
The difference is the cheaper one shares a screen so its less resolution and no IPD adjustment since it is only one screen. The advantage is its only $10 bucks effectively since you get a $20 Steam Giftcard. Even the better headset only comes out to $25. Both come with a BlueTooth controller as well...heh
True, these were cheaper two months ago, but really... if you even a slight curiosity to VR, this is the cheapest price of admission. Reviews sway from horrible to worth it for the price.
I own a Rift and Odyssey+, but I still bought one. If its good enough for Elite: Dangerous, its an insane value.

Oddly enough Walmart reduces the price of the headset when tabulating the total so you pay less in tax and thus less overall with the extra Steam GC than with just the headset itself.

Is this an actual VR headset or do I need a phone to put in it?
It is an actual VR headset with all the electronics built in.
Does it have motion controllers and what about the sensors?
It has no motion controllers and it has no sensors other than the ones built into the headset themselves. You must play stationary either standing or sitting, but you dont need to physically move your body.
So then how is this VR?
Its VR as much as Oculus GO and DayDream and GearVR are concerned though using your PC should have way better graphics.
What games can it play?
You can use SteamVR natively. But really you should only be playing games that can be played with a controller, or external device like a racing wheel or flight hotas. So should be perfect for racing games and flight sims.
What about movies and ...stuff?
Yes.
I heard its got bad motion blur, only runs at 60hz and makes users wanna throw up?
Could be, spend the 10 or 25 dollars and find out yourselves... but you should know a new software update was released recently and at least in the case of the 1440 version the frame-rate goes to 90-120hz now.
I do use Steam so the gift card will be used, but I don't know if I should risk getting this for $10 or $25?
Then don't and stop burying this thread because you're too chicken to spend the price of a lunch on something potentially awesome.
Additional questions:
So what it the difference between the two - why is the power spec'd version more expensive?
It isn't. The 1440 x 1440 version is per eyeball, 2 times 1440 x 1440. The single 2560 x 1440 is a single screen split into two. Effectively 1280 x 1440 per eye, but since its the same physical screen you can't adjust for IPD which is how far apart your eyes are.
Okay, so what is IPD and why is it worth $15 more here?
IPD is the distance from your eye to your other eye. In the low-end model you cannot adjust this as they share the same screen. You will still be able to see, but depending on how far off your eyes are dead center from the default position it can cause various degrees of irritation and fatigue. Having dual screen in the pricier version allows this IPD adjustment making it literally easier on the eyes.
Back to the controls and games... what exactly can I play?
This comes with a wireless adapter as well as a wireless controller. Go into Steam and search for all their VR games. Go to the filters and check "Full Controller Support". You'll get a list of games you can use with a controller - those are the ones you can use with this system. Along with any game that can use custom controls like a Hotas for flight sims or a racing wheel for racing games - those should all work great too.
examples include: Elite: Dangerous, Resident Evil 7, Lucky Tales, Skyrim VR, Dirt Rally
What about support, I'm not much a techno-geek and might need help.
Sorry... It sucks, but part of the cheap cost is the lack of premium stuff like proper support. I hate to say it, but if you need more help than what Google can provide, and/or have high expectations for a flawless setup... its best you just skip this.
Are you a shill?
I could be if this product turns out to be good for what I expect... if not, this will get flamed to hell from me any time someone else posts it

Margroloc's fixes does help tremendously with improving the WVR3 too.
Magicsee M1 Pro sounds interesting. Hey go on and tell us more. I'm kinda unaware on cheaper VR Headsets.
It's hard to figure out info on these Headsets. I mean currently this is the best place for info on these VR-Tek models.
Here are some tweaks to the settings which helped in my case for WMR3 model:-
Step 1. Change your WMR Steam Driver default.vrsettings file to have a renderTargetScale value of 2.0.
Open default.vrsettings and edit the file, adding
"renderTargetScale" : 2.0"
So by default the 'renderTargetScale' is "1.0", so make sure WMR is all shutdown (as is SteamVR) and edit the file to read '2.0', save the file and on you go.
Step 2: Change your default SteamVR Video override to a fixed '200%'. You can use the SteamVR desktop widget menu for this, i.e. make it '200%'.
In SteamVR, when setting SS under Applications > Application Resolution Adjustment, and Video > Manual Override, SteamVR has a numerical value. This improved clarity and sharpness.
Nibiru is a great OS and the HDMI input lag is equal to HDTVs now. I will reveal more in time. I am also developing a VR gun controller that will be low cost and one of a kind, It will be focused on more than VR, that way the device will serve you well if the VR market fades.
My VR design will include full IPD/Focus wheels and up-gradable screens. I cannot say too much more now. Some neat additions I have come up with and do not what them to be used without my credit. I did in fact sign an NDA and helped with design on the Delta 6, I even own a Delta 6 II Prototype VR gun. It really was a good gun, the Gyro had no drift, in fact it was not a gyro at all. I cannot say too much more due to the NDA I signed.
X-Rover will help me market my VR gun. X-Rover made the Delta Six in China as an OEM, Avenger just re-branded it Delta 6 and jacked up the price. I have 5 OEM/ODM sectors that might help me with the VR project. Just keep a look out, these will be affordable and cheap. The way you become wealthy is by making a great product for cheap with margins so high that the customer still gets a steal, or as you guys say a "slick deal".

Aside from the minor flaws these Direkt-Tek VR-Tek Headsets are a fantastic deal. Even the cheap-o controller is pretty decent.
However like I said above to you. They need to advertise much better.
The Wal-Mart.com reviews and the few YT reviews could be improved.
Direkt-Tek needs to connect with the customers better. Like I suggested earlier, maybe they should open a Discord. They need a bigger presence to listen to customer feedback.
I was skeptical of the WVR3 but the Steam Card combo helped ease trying it and after a few minor tweaks.... For me it's great. I know there is better. That shouldn't discount the value of these.

The lens retainers just twist off on the WVR3 so removal and reinstallation are ezpz and doesn't require any tools. The eye padding just pulls off to make the job a bit easier. The Gear lenses have a notch so there is a slight gap left after install and I'm sure it'll invite dust, but in use I don't really notice it so that's nice. Someone smarter than me could 3D print a new retainer to fix this I'm sure. Other than that though, I'm happy with the upgrade. The blur I'd get while turning my head is mostly gone and everything is more clear in general.
Which GearVR did you use? The original white model or the later black ones? They have different size lenses.

......Overwrite the default.vrsettings in C:\Program Files (x86)\HoloView\SteamDriver\vrtek\resources\settings with this.
On the IPD, I optically need around a 57, and the mechanical sliders get close but don't go that low. So I have a hard time seeing in these unless I close one eye. (which makes VR nearly pointless)
Will this setting help me? I guess I'm asking if this setting slide the "center" of the image on the screens? Or does it only slide the virtual perspective of the image, but leave it's center physically in the same place on each screen? (i.e. as if the two virtual cameras that make the eyes in a game, are just closer together)
I hope to try this soon, but likely won't get a chance until the weekend.
