Really depends on what you want. The 2020 iPad Pro is outdated and seriously in need of an update. Nonetheless, I bought one in August of last year because I really wanted the improved speakers (which are incredible) and studio quality mics. It's a solid iPad, no regrets, but not as good as I think it should be for the price (would have liked to see better screen, updated processor, and better first party case options).

It already did (basically). The M1 is the A14 chip adapted for Mac computers, which transitioned from Intel to Apple's own silicon. iPads have never used Intel processors.

I found that 64GB is too little for my phone, but fine for an iPad. Somewhat counterintuitive since iPads are mostly used for media consumption, but for the biggest files (videos) you are likely to download, watch once, and then delete. And most people don't take pictures with tablets, another reason less storage is needed.

You sure it was the Ipad Pro 11" and not the 10.5"? Processor generational upgrades between a 10.5" -> Air 4 would be substantial; its basically a push from the 11" Pro -> Air 4.

I just checked my order since I traded in my old iPad for $185 off the new Air 4. Worse it was a 9.7".

You don't really need MacRumors to tell you that a 3-month-old product isn't being replaced next month, or that the introduction of a new iPad Pro (if it happens) won't have any significant effect on the price of the iPad Air. That's the point I was trying to make to the poster telling everyone to wait.

Agreed. Simple news they won't drop the price until 1) back to school sale. Or 2). They can't sell enough units.

The air oversold being some people bypassed the pro and went with the air.

The air should be perfect for 40% of the people and the regular iPad for 50%. And the new pro for the remaining people.
