If you can only use SATA, there might be some similar options, but you'll lose any benefits from the additional speed. It's not a bad idea, but you might as well wait for until you actually need one before spending money on this drive. There are other cheaper M.2 drives that might be better served by the purpose you're looking into such as the WD Black or Samsung 970 Evo Plus, and a myriad of other NVME drives on the market.
PCIe adapter is too expensive for me. I see cheaper SATA adapters. I don't mind if it's SATA speed. I just don't want to invest in 2.5" drives anymore. Do you mean these NVMe drives aren't ready for use out of the box? Do i need to buy cooling fans and heatsinks?
NVMe drives should work with an adapter out of the box but, you might want to add additional cooling (heatsink and/or fan) if the drive lives in an enclosure or has poor airflow around it. NVMe drives get far hotter than any SATA SSD I've ever owned.I stand corrected, this will not work with with a SATA adapter.
Thanks for pointed this out @Zankapfel!
