Huge difference. I have a fire stick which is now on the playroom TV for the kiddo to watch Disney+/PBS, but the Apple TV is a significant upgrade in UI. On top of that, if you have iPhones or iPads, being able to cast/screen mirror or use your phone as a remote is pretty cool too. Also, Airpods can pair directly with the Apple TV for wireless audio (I use this during football season so I can watch/listen to the game while cleaning up without blasting the family)

Like others have mentioned, it's a big difference.

I housed to have fire sticks all over the house since they were cheap, but then I noticed that they began to have issues with some apps as updated versions came out (despite me staying up to date on all fire and app updates).

Main thing for me was that I wanted to use the Spectrum app, and Amazon fire stick wouldn't let me use it properly, kept having issues where it wasn't supported.

As an iPhone user, I like to easily screen mirror what I was watching in my phone onto the tv all through the phone.

Lastly I really appreciate being able to use my Apple remote as my all-in-one remote where I don't need to touch my soundbar and tv remotes.

I've owned lots of roku devices because they carried the Spectrum app (which they don't anymore) and were always cheaper to an apple tv. I've given my previous roku version to my parents, the the current one is unplugged. Roku boxes are great but clunky and unintuitive. The UI could be so much better, and I can't switch between apps and pickup where I last left off. I have to go home then scroll to an app then enter it, with apple tv its like an iphone I can just swipe between apps, I don't have to go home every time and re enter everything. Yes roku has an app that controls the roku but not the whole tv. You don't have to be offended if you can't afford an apple tv, no one is forcing anyone to buy one, and you're not a lesser person for not having any experience with them, that's just apple's marketing.

I went to my local Best Buy and I was told they were not price matching Amazon at this time due to the prime day sales. I asked to price match to sams and got it for $169.98 plus 6 months of Apple Music

I have 2 Apple TV 4Ks, previous gen. I bought one of the new ones to try out the improvements and can say it is much faster than the previous Gen. UI is identical, but the remote is much better. The power button is great, but it will take a little getting used to. I keep.muting when I want to pause. In all I'm happy with the upgrade and can get half my costs back selling my Gen 1

170 for a streaming device? You gotta be kidding me. It does not support ITUNES. You won't be able to get hfi. So no point in spending this kind of money even if you have a fancy home theater system.

Faster how? More responsive when you click on an Apple TV app? Loads faster? There's no difference once Netflix or whatever is up and on is there?
