It's exclusive to those who got the email I think.

I am deciding whether or not to do it because I have a 1tb and I have a 2tb evo pus so not sure I even need the extra 1tb.

I do also have a $50 newegg gc that expires in a month and I get 5% cash back at newegg, though... so still tempting. It would be about $337 for me after tax and discount and then after using the gc would be $287 out of pocket. Then looks like selling my 1tb one would get me $145. So pretty much I'd be payign the going rate for 1tb to add that extra tb, but this is an itx build with only 2 slots so would be nice to get 4tb of fast ssd space.

They will. It was not that long ago when 1TB M.2s were this price.

Yeah that's true. I would get the 1 tb but newer games are going to take up more memory now and in the future.

The eternal storage along with a extra 1tb goes a long way tbh. If you are the type that absolutely needs to have many many games ready on the fly then a 2tb is good for you. If you are like me that has two or three shooter games and a sports game and plays a adventure game every 1-2 months then deletes them, then 1 extra 1tb is fine. You will still have plenty of space. ... but if you got the money, why not.

My PS5 internal storage is almost full with all PS5 games now. That's literally 6 games. To me, 2tb is future proofing.

Well true given that after system files you will have 650gb left. 100gb per game that will give you 6 games. So having 1tb will give you give or take about 10 games and a 2tb will give you around 20 games extra. It all comes to preference. I for one dont need 26 games on standby but im sure there are people that like the convenience and that respectable as well.
