I was going to get a U8G but ended up going with the X90J from COstco despite the higher ratings for Hisense. If they made a 75" model I'd be very tempted, but only with a longer, reputable warranty added. The Hisense is a better TV out of the box but long term reliability, customer service, and QA are a bit questionable or at least not yet proven.

I was worried about that too, so I added Upsie warranty on the Hisense for peace of mind. So far loving the TV with gaming and movies. Hopefully it gets the Google TV update

I am wanting the 55U8G at $800.
Hoping for that price from a big box store like Best Buy.
Then I would be in for one.

By the time you add sales tax in it ends up +$850.

You can get the a80j for 1700 after tax. C1 was like 1650. Problem is the company makes u pay for return shipping. They have a 15% off coupon on there for tech right now from an authorized dealer but honestly next month I can see the oled go to 1500 for 65inch and get it from someone who will take returns easily.

Amazon offers 5% back on all items purchased through with a Prime credit card. But they offer up to 25% cashback on select items:
https://www.amazon.com/Prime-Card...7934980011

On the Hisense 65" U8G, Amazon is listing 10% cash back (5% regular + 5% bonus cashback). Look for the printed 10% back right above the '100 day no regrets guarantee'

Is this a better deal at the same price?

For most people the u6g will be a better value. It's a clearly worse TV but the faults are easy to overlook. It's dimmer, has worse hdr, and doesn't support 120hz 4k

The U9DG is Hisense's 2021 Flagship (~$3000). Then one tier down is U8G, then U7G, then U6G.

If you need 75" I'd wait for a deal on the U7G. It was as cheap as $1150 a month ago:
https://slickdeals.net/f/15286303-75-hisense-75u7g-4k-qled-hdr-smart-tv-2021-1-148-free-shipping-amazon?src=SiteSearchV2Algo1

So it's worth waiting between now and Black Friday for a similar deal.

Both 75" U7G and U6G models are IPS panels meaning better viewing angles but worse contrast. Just note that most of the reviews out there for the U6G and U7G are of the 55" and 65" models which are VA panels.

You sacrifice some picture quality going from the U8G to the U7G, but here is a more in depth comparison:
https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/c...shold=0.10

In addition to what Kaze0 was saying, the U6G has a lower peak brightness meaning it will not be as good for HDR, compared to the brighter U7G and very bright U8G.

FWIW... since there has been so much confusion over the IPS vs VA on the Hisense 75" panels, community member makowb posted in-store pics of the 75" U6G in the attached Sony thread (post #76) that indicates VA pixel structure. You can believe the post... or not, but it's not uncommon for a manufacturer to use a 75" IPS panel for one model and a 75" VA panel for another model... both Sony and Samsung are doing it this year.
