I haven't been impressed by BF/CM for many years now. It always seem to be gimmick sales on no name products just to get you in the door/click on their website.
bought ipad two weeks ago, their accidental protection plan is $100 for 2 year. much better than applecare.
wish i had bought my first ipad through them.
and they never hard-sell the service plan. always polite and no attitude if u decline their offer.
Yeah, otherwise they can't give you the hard sell on the service plan. I always feel bad when I decline it. The poor kids trying to sell it act like I just killed their dog when I pass on it.

5600x is $300 so it is $70 more. It is also a better CPU because of more cache and higher freq. You can YouTube videos to see the specifics.
your right. I wait for 5600x BF deal. Im guessing it drop to 250

Yeah I got a gaming laptop for 450$ and could've got the 65 in TVs for 250$ but procrastinated until they were sold out. Definitely good deals compared to what this stuff normally is on sale for. As far as processors and parts idk much about those prices.

The problem is that you are getting a compromised CPU when you go the APU route. For example, if you go with the "top of the line" 5700G, you get a total L3 Cache
of 16MB vs 32MB if you go the 5800x route + higher max boost clock.

The same applies with the 5600G vs 5600X. That's why the other poster mentioned that its best to stick to the others if you plan to pair with a discrete GPU.

Idk why this is downvoted, it's accurate. GooG6695 was incorrect to say there is no drawback to using this if you intend to use dedicated gpu.

It's not just the same cpu plus integrates graphics, it's legit a different cpu that takes a hit vs the 5600x for the combined function. You're literally getting less cpu. Important to consider your intended use before deciding this is a good deal for you.

Yep. This year will probably be one of the worst if not worst BF/CM of all time because of the supply chain shortages. There will hardly be any incentives for discounts. If you need something that you see a sale between now and then, I would pull the trigger.

I haven't seen any decent bf prebuilt deals since I bought mine like 4 years ago. I don't expect too much this year either.

And Newegg has a lot of BF protection items as well, if you do pull the trigger on something that is cheaper for BF.

hell, cyber monday is 44 days away but if y'all are desperate you can pull the trigger

With supply shortage there wont be any BF or cyber monday is my guess. Supply and demand.

I bought this a few days ago for $220 and used it to upgrade my Ryzen 7 2700. It's about 25-35% boost on my/after benchmarks. Y'all call me crazy but I have a Vega 56 graphics card and still did it. No regrets.

I'll sell the 2700 for $180ish and make this a 30% boost for about 50 bucks.

Sure I could have got another 15% by spending another $70 on the 5600x but the cost/benefit just didn't seem worth it.

Yeah doubt we will get much a holiday sale this year. At least on desirable electronics. Shoot I think we will be lucky if stuff is even in stock. Just flew home from California yesterday and from the plane you could see cargo ships filling the entire coast line of LA waiting to unload. Doubt they will all be unloaded by the end of the year.

You aren't crazy - I also got this one to upgrade my 1700X, and I have a discrete card to put in it as well. I don't regret it either ā€“ it is a different design from the 5600X, true, it uses a monolith design compared to the 5600X's chiplet, and only has half the L3 cache, but in most cases that doesn't make much difference and this is, in many benchmarks, within 10% of a 5600X (although in a few games it can be about 10-20% slower, so please be aware). I got mine as an open box, so it was nearly $100 cheaper than the 5600X. No regrets either!

Saw your post earlier, you got a sweet deal! Yeah I'm an audio engineer and I can have a dozen guitar amp simulators open and it doesn't bat an eye. Works great in DaVinci Resolve too. Zero complaints.

True. The difference in L3 cache could lead to a 10% gaming difference between the two CPUs when using a discrete GPU. I would say that there's a moderate $70 price difference between the two CPUs. When paying more, you're getting more performance. The decision to buy this or not does depend on if you currently have and will always have a GPU on hand to use. If you're SOL with a GPU right now, this isn't a bad option. Can always sell it down the road for a small loss..

The 5 5600x is slightly better than the 5 5600g. Similarly, the 7 5800X is slightly better than the 7 5700G. In practice, though, you won't experience the difference. Because discrete GPU prices are insane, its far better to get an AMD apu with integrated graphics like the 5600G here.

Hoping to sneak this question in:

I have an old low profile case with a ~200w power supply that I would love to repurpose for streaming and general usage. I don't play any games, ever. Would this CPU + MB with a SSD and 8Gb of ram work with 200W?

Edit: After a little more research, 300W is recommended for this setup. It turns out a flex ATX powersupply at 300W is not that expensive. So I may do it...
