From an Amazon Q&A:

Chamberlain MyQ offers a subscription for connecting your device to smart home services such as IFTTT, & Google assistant. The subscription will allow you to automate various features with your smart devices. The cost for this subscription will be $1 a month or $10 a year. Although Amazon Key, Nest, & Xinfinity home integration does not require a subscription and can be integrated for free.

Apart from integrating chamberlain Myq to smart home services such as IFTTT & Google assistant, chamberlain's other features are completely free. This includes using the chamberlain app to check your garage history to see at what times were your garage open & closed as well as if it was left open. You will be able to add an alert to set your garage on a timer if it is left open for a time chosen by you say 5 minutes it will automatically close on its own. The app will also allow you to open and close your garage remotely.

Can second this. Bought this exact one earlier this month, has been working fine with no fee.

Need another sensor, its cheaper to pick this up then just the sensor.

Can't believe how these are now almost "free". $100 used to be the norm! I switched to Nexx a couple years ago when I moved and haven't looked back. Chamberlain required a subscription to connect with other ecosystems at that time. No idea if they do now...and it doesn't matter.

Will this work as gate opener for liftmaster gate? It is myq compatible.

With Google Assistant, do you still have to ask it to ask MyQ to do something? Instead of just telling Google to open the garage door? You have to tell Google to ask MyQ to open the garage door which is a little bit annoying.
you can use routines.. program it correctly in about wo minutes.....and just say open the garage door.. and that would ask Myq to do it

You can get notified that the garage door has been open but you can only choose between being notified "immediately" or after "10 minutes". That's it. No Alexa integration unless you pay the subscription fee for IFTTT which is a huge disappointment.
How do you set the "10 minute" notification? I can't even find that on the MyQ app.

Can this function without the battery-powered sensor installed? I have a web cam i can use to verify it's open or closed and only care about opening/closing the door using the app alone.

My garage door opener has a fried radio board. It still opens with the button but not with any wireless clickers.

If this connects to the motor like the button does, will it allow me to open my garage door from inside my car again?

EDIT: after doing some research this doesn't wire into your motor like the button does, it instead copies your remote signal to broadcast.

Anyone who tried the Lomata Smart Wi-Fi door opener [amazon.com] or Meross [amazon.com] where the door sensor are wired and doesn't require battery and how it compares to this?

I'm not a fan that the sensors uses coin cell batteries unless it can last over a year at least.

I have the old MyQ sensors 4 of them and the batteries last about a year and a half. Easy to change. Wouldn't let that stop me from getting these. I do get some unreliability on the old ones though.

It's under Notifications and Alerts. A bit nested to get to:

Account (upper left corner)
Device Management
Hubs
Device/Sensors Paired to this Hub
Notifications and Alerts
Then add a new Access Notification
Under "When would you like to be notified of the above chosen actions?" choose "Remind Me" and select 10 minutes (or 5, 15, whatever)

Yeah have an older model of this and works great usually. I have another garage door that I could use the second sensor on though. I'd swap out the base unit to this newer one doo. With the old base unit, sometimes it won't tell me that the door closed until up to 15 minutes after the fact.

Think of it as a generic garage door opener. It has compatibility with many and most garage doors. In short, it asks you to press "LEARN" button on garage door and learns that code to emit when activated through app. Also, it has garage door sensor (goes on the garage door) which senses the garage door orientation (vertical when garage door is closed and horizontal when garage door is open) to validate opening and closing of door.

Hope that helps.

Sanity check - if I buy 3 of these, I only need to use one hub, right? Can just use the sensors from the other packages and leave the hubs boxed?

edit: I found my answer - a single hub can handle 2 sensors, but need a new hub for the third.

An endorsement FWIW, if you're considering this: I took a flyer on it last Black Friday (previous version) and it has far exceeded my expectations. It was very easy to set up and program with my existing opener, and has worked flawlessly. I've not attempted to connect it to a smart speaker but don't see a need for that. To me it's worth it for:

1) Notifications to my watch every time the door opens or closes
2) Automatically close the door (and notify me) when the door is left open past a certain hour
3) Enables secure Amazon Key delivery

I didn't realize how much I'd appreciate these functions. The notifications in particular provide peace of mind in a couple of ways: I drive away from the house quickly now without sitting and watching to make sure the garage door closed (my watch confirms it after I'm halfway down the street. And no matter where I am in the house, I know when a member of my family has arrived home (or left, for that matter).

No subscription here. And I have not had any battery issues yet with the sensor.
My garage is slightly far from my home so does not have very good wifi signals. Would that be a big issue? Can i set it up with any other wifi than my main home wifi.
Thanks

The simplest way is to:
  1. Go to the "home" screen (where it shows you whether your door is currently open or closed and for how long)
  2. Click on the "..." button (underneath the status of your door)
  3. Click "Notifications and Alerts"
  4. Click "+ Add Access Notification"
Also, as someone else mentioned, you can also be notified if your door is open at a specific time of day, ex. if the door is open at 10PM, using the same method above
