new to gaming laptops, any thoughts on this. specs seem pretty good
I had the 16 "shared" vram version. 130w vs a 3070 140w would have similar performance, problems with this unit is the firstly the software, it's janky af, sometimes it doesn't work , or resets to default settings after restarts , also has a lot of Chinese lettering in the software too. Second . The keys seemed small or/and to close together making weird to type on , third no mux . For this price point you'll be better off with a 3070 with 140w Tdp with a qhd, maybe around 17" screen
I actually liked this laptop for the most part. I returned it just because of FHD. I just can't take 1080 screens anymore. Beyond that, honestly it was a great laptop.
Bought a Legion 7 3080, which was amazing, but it had a bad panel and they couldn't replace it.
Now I'm waiting for a Prometheus XVII 5900/3070, which will be awesome if the screen isn't bad. We'll see.

It's not. The XVII with a 3070 has a mux switch. The gigabyte does not.
Performance wise the Prometheus 3070 will out perform this laptop in almost every sense with a significantly nicer screen. I just bought one for $1700.

A Prometheus 3080 with 1tb drive 32gb ram is 2800. Also. It's a 17" where this is a 15.6.
I'm glad you like your laptop, but they do not compare well in this thread.

It's something else to consider.

I prefer a 17" QHD screen, but it's not a fit for everyone.

Just wait one month and there will be a 12 700h processor with this for the same price

17" @ almost a $1000 more for similar specs.

As I stated, the gigabyte is a great laptop. Very solid. One can't go wrong with this laptop as long as one is happy with a FHD screen.

Same exact panel (literally) as the legion 7. 5900 + 3080 165 hz HDR.
