This is a great dashcam at a great price. I purchased the $15 polarized filter with mine and it makes a better picture during the day.
Those dash cam which came with 2.4G Wi-Fi looks good on paper, but a single recording file is over 500MB(3 minutes duration), it takes way more time to download over Wi-Fi than just take the card out and copy.
why this deal never happens on the version with rear cam?

Updrading from my A119S. Any recommendations on which memory card to use for this?

Is the rear cam necessary?

Well the point of the Dashcam is like an insurnace policy; good to have but hope you dont have to use it....

That said I was involved in an accident and the Dashcam helped me vs the insurance company saying it was my fault. I only had front camera in that case but the argument that the IC had was I was speeding (just me) in rainy conditions which was not the case as I was flowing with the traffic so having a rear camera would have shown there were a lot of other cars.

Its good to have to paint the full picture.

Excessive speed is possible without exceeding the "speed limit" depending on conditions.

I considered this Dashcam at some point but the fact that it doesn't support Wi-Fi connection was a deal breaker for me. It's inconvenient to take out the Micro SD card anytime there is a need to download recorded videos
As others have already pointed out, downloading these recordings is going to take an extremely long time over WiFi. I bought 2 SD cards and keep the second in the car. When I want to grab a video, I swap the spare into the camera and take the camera card with me. I can then copy it at whatever time is convenient and then put it back in the car. The next time you want to grab another video, just repeat the process.

I got 2 of these SanDisk cards [amazon.com]. I keep one in the camera and the other in the dash to swap out when I want to download a clip.

There's also the VIOFO A129 Plus Dual with 16GB eMMC RAM [amazon.com] for $189 - $30 coupon. That small amount of onboard RAM is the only different thing.

Sure not disagreeing to that point and I guess without the full context of what happened its easy to say that.

Here is what happened: I was driving on the highway, it had just freshly rained and there was a truck breaking in front of me and no space for a car to "Merge" in but this guy did it causing the accident and I did not have anywhere to really go so I skidded to avoid hitting him straight on in the time given and hit his back/side. The other insurance company never saw video as it was a straight forward accident and the other driver on video took blame.

In discussing the video the other Insurance Company on the phone just said to me "I was speeding because I skidded.....without me exceeding the traffic flow". Where did they get the facts for it, who knows but their offer was a 60/40 my fault 40% wtf. I provided the video to them after they made those statements and the video of the other driver but they still said best 80/20 as 20% my fault.

I started a new claim with my insurance and gave them the video and right off the bat it was accepted as the other driver at fault 100% and things were resolved without issue.

See the video and keep in mind that this was a crappy Dashcam with a weird wide angle and it actually froze at the point of impact but the divider narrows on the left ahead and disappears as there is more pulloff so we ended up pulling to the right between express and local lanes (crazy unsafe) 78W in NJ.

They also have the A129 Pro Duo on sale. That's the one I have and very happy with it. You really need 4k to read license plates. Even with 4k, it's dicey.

I have 3 of the Viofo A129 4K duo. They are good dashcam.

Over the course of keeping them 2 of them have the accessories fail and their service department from China sent me replacements since the camera were within the 1 year period.

You can also find some of the replacement components on Amazon. I just wanted to post this so folks know that these might not be the install once and forget about them type that you may want.

I'm happy with them so far because it saved me from one accident claim and covered all its worth

Bought this instead due to the Lightning deal on Amazon for 212 and 3 year warranty.

How often do you plan on being involved in incidents that require pulling dashcam footage? Maybe if you drive for a living that's a valid concern, but most people should not be pulling the card very often. I generally find myself pulling mine just to make sure it's still recording every few months.

I have the A119c which I remain happy with after 5 years. Next car gets an a129 with front/rear.

Viofo is good, but I highly recommend going with a front/rear combo setup.

If budget is tight, I'd prefer a 1080p unit with front/back over a higher resolution front-only option. Options like GPS are nice, but less important than seeing what happens behind you.

just remember that with the VIOFO cams:
  • if you want parking monitoring you need the hardwire kit (also sold separately)
    • if you buy the hardwire kit you also need to buy the Circuit Fuse Taps (also sold separately)
      • VIOFO sells Circuit Fuse Taps, depending on your model car, you may end up needing two of the same Circuit Fuse Taps.
        • one of their kits come with one of every Circuit Fuse Taps while another comes with two of the same, you absolutely will need to know if your car needs two of the same or two different - so know before you buy! I've read some users have to modify the taps to get them to fit so also be aware of that.
