Yep. I did the same. I put a 2tb in my PS5. I have only been buying PS5 games since. $190 is too much for 1TB. So XBOX will not get my game $ until they drop the prices of their expanded memory.

What SSD did you get for the PS5? Need more memory Smilie

I use a WD Black SN850 2TB NVMe (Without heatsink mine came with a free separate heatsink from Newegg) , and a WD 2TB portable drive for PS4 games and only put PS5 games on the SN850 NVMe.
(When I purchased mine it came with a free separate heatsink)

WD_BLACK 2TB SN850 NVMe Internal Gaming SSD Solid State Drive - Gen4 PCIe, M.2 2280, 3D NAND, Up to 7,000 MB/s - WDS200T1X0E https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08KFRF...TY7Q18ZN7T

Currently on sale for $241.05

This heatsink works:

SABRENT M.2 NVMe Heatsink for The PS5 Console (SB-PSHS) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09HSQQ...UTF8&psc=1

What's in the box?
Heatsink
Thermal tape

It is super easy to install:

Got one of these off Craigslist last year for $140 total. Worth it at that price. Wink

Spec wise, the performance is half. The reason you don't see a real life difference is because no games is currently maxing out the speeds. Maybe in a couple of years you'll start to see developers push it more.

The PS5 and XBOX X are both fine. Wish I had both!

PS has always been an easy drive changer in the past.

But with these new systems changing the stock internal drive may be an issue. Both offer a user available external approved upgrade.

Apples and oranges BTW. XBOX expands the internal system drive in all functionalities. PS lets you add a second drive.

All good and no complaints here.

Yes, the XBOX expander is expensive. But I think it will drift down a little in price as the competition heats up if it ever does.

I can only say that games play fast on the XBOX and I enjoy the other features.

It out performs my 3 desktops' with a 1660 TI GPU which is not surprising. XBOX and PS were always able to put together a system that worked great for gaming.

I reminded my grand son that building a game tower for games is not as good as having the new updated gamming boxes. Why! Because they are designed from the ground up to play games great!

Sony and Microsoft are quality companies (although I do like Samsung laptops).

All my TVs are Sony. Even though I like the OS on the Samsung TVs I can still see a quality build difference (Very subtle).

I might buy one memory card on the MS Store using my MS Reward points. You get $100 off if you save 91k points. I am at 150k pts at the moment so I am debating getting the card vs saving up for a Series X as I own the S. Nobody likes paying a premium for storage but MS Reward points are free. So that's one way to get a big discount doing mindless bing searches.

Get the Series X... You're welcome

MS was stupid picking this form factor for their SSD add-on. It doesn't matter what SSDs cost for PCs if the Xbox requires an incompatible form factor.

So the performance is the same, we agree? THanks.

It's partly to avoid any compatibility issues, and mostly just to make some extra profit. Look at Apple with the iPhones.

SeaGarbage is the only ones interested in making a proprietary drive, given it's the only way anyone will buy their junk. If they're going to keep bending people over on prices like this, it should at least come with a free dinner.

Although this may be a deal, it's still not a good value.

You have a point, this is the first Seagate I've considered buying in 15 years.

This is effin' ridiculous. I need Xbox Series drive much more than I need one for PS5, but there's now way I'm paying more than twice as much. I got 1TB Gen 4 drive for PS5 for $80 with rebate. How the F they are justifying these prices?!
