Are you using the apple edu store? The M1 air with 16/512 is $1260 before taxes. That's a much better deal than the M2 with the same specs and still a lot cheaper than this pro
I don't know, once you go up to 16gb ram and 512gb SSD on the air, you're only a couple hundred off this price. For the better gpu, screen, speakers, more ports, better cooling I chose to spend the extra $ hoping this will take longer before it becomes obsolete as well.
Only 11 hours? how many people spent more than 11 hours a day with their laptop without a plug? Compared to my intel macbook pro it feels like the battery lasts 3 times longer minimum and feels significantly faster. The air is better and more portable for most people just doing basic task but i never felt my 14 inch to feel too heavy to carry around or have any significant battery anxiety. Most of the time i even max it out at 70% battery which leaves me about 30% battery when i am done with several hours of use to keep the battery healthy.
can you post the amazon link for the one you ordered? TIA

do you need an edu email address to order? looking to get one for my daughter as well.
Apples EDU discount are available without any verification process to my understanding so anyone should be able to order. They tried implementing it before and faced a bunch of backlash so I think it's gone for good.
Got this deal in February for the same price. Not sure if it's the extra 8gb of RAM or the M1 Pro chip, but it's noticably more responsive and smoother than the base M1 Macbook Pro 13.
Best laptop I have ever owned. I literally do not have a single complaint about it other than the price, but it thrashes a comparable XPS / other premium notebooks in the price range anyway.

What about your battery? I got this model and returned because just got 7-9 hours per cycle just using the web browser.
If you don't have a professional reason to buy one, just get the MacBook Air

Definitely on the watch for a machine like this. I'd love to pick up one for a little less, but a couple hundred bucks off puts a nice dent in the price.

Be aware that the Mbook pro 14 inch is heavy and battery only less 11 hours

Im insured in the Air M2 but it doesn't seem that much lighter or smaller than the 14" Pro.
