Saw this earlier today, in for 1. After the "hack" should drop the price to $142 for the just the combo, and this is the newest gen3 set which seems to be a noticeable improvement over gen2. I also liked the fact that this comes with the hammer drill which generally cost more, as opposed to the standard drill.

This drill is nice but the standard M12 battery dies so quickly. I was only able to make about 10 holes using the max size drill bit on a new battery

"Hackable", meaning a Home Depot combo deal, in which you can return or exclude part of the combo. Since HD sells combos as a set of individually packaged line items, you could buy this and return the separately packed batteries, leaving only the cost of the bare tools.

Best price on this combo to date. Previous "best" deal on the Gen2 (2~3 months ago) was $131 (hacked). For the extra $10, some would argue the LEDs on the Gen3 alone are worth it. Great find...in for one.

I'm still awaiting a Surge deal though....fingers crossed.

EDIT: Surge deal is now $97.37 (tool only, hacked) for any interested: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Milwa.../309097691

FWIW, the m18 surge can be had as low as $91 right now as well.

I picked up the previous M12 model for $93 last year. It is really a fantastic set to have professional grade power in a smaller form factor. The new model has even more power. Outside of having to install long lag bolts this tool is more than enough power and should be last for a long time.

Short answer: yes. Long answer, every person/application is different. It is best to always find 2 or 3 trusted YouTube videos and look for your primary use case. You might find that lightest is best (if hands above head), or power is best if driving 100s of screws/day.

My main use cases are joinery and DIY. I think the smaller form factor here answers my question.

How are you getting the m18 for $91? I have so many m18 batteries I refuse to switch to 12.
