New gen 3 drill and impact set for199 with a free CP2.5, $143 before tax if you hack and return the CP2.5, either way you slice it this seems like a great deal (though I'd hack it, the CP2.5 isn't really worth 58 bucks imho) if you need this pair as a starter. Comes with CP2.0 and XC4.0 batteries, charger and bag.

This price is very tempting. Must resist.

I have a perfectly functional set of Bosch drills, impact driver, jigsaw, oscillating tool, and several lights. I don't need to start another battery system.

For those that have done the hack and returned in the store, do people give you any trouble? I've never done any combo hack deals before.

I tried the hack for the first time and the store employee said I'll have to return the whole set. The items I ordered do not show up as separate in my online order as well, it's just one. What am I doing wrong?

No they don't. They don't really care.

Haha I have 2 Dewalt drill drivers, a impact, m12 surge impact, the brushed screwdriver, the 4 in 1 installation driver but I only have 1 hammer drill, so I've been looking for that. Been keeping a set of tools in the backyard shed to save me a trip to the garage

M12 is really addictive so consider any tool a gateway drug to more

I have the Bosch set and it's good. But this set is amazing. I don't even keep m18 drill/driver in my truck anymore. This set is good enough to replace them.

I bought a gen 2 set of these that I haven't used, worth it to return them and get the gen 3 instead at the same price?

The one you want to keep, have it ship to home. The unwant item, do in-store pickup. Let the store pickup expire and it will auto refund you.
You haven't been able to do store and home for a while. Either ship it all home and bring back the one you want to return or pickup in store and return or select store you want to pickup what you want and the other item from a different store you don't pick upmfrom and when you pick up what you want you cancel the other or wait for it to time out and auto credit

So how does this compare with the similar gen 2? Tools from 3month ago wondering if I should return and buy this later hoping to pick up the ratchet and wrench.

For the impact driver:

Gen 2: https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Pro...rs/2553-20
Gen 3: https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Pro...ng/3453-20

For the Hammer Drill/Driver:

Gen 2: https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Pro...ls/2504-20
Gen 3: https://www.milwaukeetool.com/Pro...ls/3404-20

From the specs, Gen 3 is a little bit faster, more powerful and compact. I bet most people won't notice any meaningful difference but at this point might as well get Gen 3, unless there are great closeout deals on Gen 2.
