The Xbox doesn't support Dolby vision or HDR10+ playback on 4K blu ray discs.
I highly recommend this 4K player, it has amazing video and sound compared to Xbox series X/PS5
So you only read one part of what I stated… so no you don't "got me".

I have this and I'm very happy with it. I originally received a defective one that would pause and visually glitch, but I sent it back for a replacement and it now works as it should. I have two tiny gripes about this player (and I mean tiny!). 1) There's no on-screen playback status bar to tell you how far along your video has played, and 2) the on-screen menu looks a bit dated and basic. Other than those two things, I'm very happy with it. My guess is this will consistently be the sale price. You will catch it at a lower price once or twice a year but it'll be at a totally random time. Good luck.

edit: there is a playback status bar but you have to press a button on the remote twice for it to pop up. I've had this player since July and I still struggle to find the button.

If it does might be $50 and at this point BB would probably refund you the difference if it did.

Alternatives: see if there is an open box near you or BB has the Sony 700M on sale for $159.

Sony might be a crapshoot with glitches & disc issues and you have to manually turn one/off DV.

People mentioned LG in the other thread but would not recommend them, had more issues than Sony and not as good.
I've seen LG at Goodwill and Pawn shops for cheap so if you want to save money you can check there.

Comparing all of these TBH the 420 is the best buy IMO.
You get best PQ/AQ of the 820 and as good as they process HDR the difference in regards to DV often isn't that big especially when you consider the cost difference.

Not to mention not getting the issues the others have, gets old very fast!

Samsung doesn't have Dolby vision so the 420 would be better for you.

The 420 supports HDR10+ which is what your Samsung TV has. The 820 supports HDR10+ AND Dolby Vision which is on most higher end LG and Sony TVs. So you can save some money now and get the 420 unless you plan to upgrade to a TV with Dolby Vision in the near future.

Why not just go with a Xbox one s or x with a built in 4K player? This seems pricey.
