Easystore = BestBuy Exclusive model/branding
Elements = "everywhere else"
Elements = Has hardware encryption
Easystore = No encryption
I don't know if anything changes beyond that -- if one is easier than the other to "shuck" or if the internal drives are different? But I've been buying externals for years -- SanDisk, Elements, Easystore, and I really haven't noticed any issues/differences between them. For me, I'd say go with the size that makes most sense to you.
14 TB = 200 (Easystore)
16 TB = 240 (Elements)
18 TB = 280 (Easystore)
The 14TB seems to be the best value, after that you can add $20 TB (x2) for the elements or $20 TB (x4) for the easystore if you needed more storage, but I wouldn't necessarily expect much of a noticeable difference (for an average user) between either.
I will say that my NEW "EasyStore" drives (BestBuy 2022 black friday) are much louder/noisier than previous years. I don't know if Elements is the same?
and NO encryption on the Elements, My Books have the encryption. folks keep making up stuff

Really wish there was an easy way for me to sell some of my older external HDDs (12tb-14tb) and upgrade. I hate selling on eBay!

Also, if you have a capital one credit card, you may have an offer for using their rewards for 11 percent back going thru their links. I just bought the 18tb from WD via this method instead an hour ago. 299.99 - 11 percent of that plus a total 4 year warranty. Better than best buy deal of $280. I had 2 separate stolen orders that were from best buy who will use a local delivery service called Roady. On both occasions, Roady drivers stole the packages after taking proof of delivery photos on a public facing street. This may happen of your local BB has your item instock. Buyer beware, and BB will not tell you which courier will deliver until after order has been charged. Same thing happened with them using Roady for an order in a different city as well about a year ago.
I don't think it should matter, as these are CMR drives in this size regardless. They're all white label rebranded Reds. Someone want to correct me?
