No hdmi 2.1 means no HDR10+. Went with the firetv cube instead with 20 percent trade in discount of an ancient fire stick. New cube has 4k upscaling as well that improved significantly since December update. Wish nvidia had hdr10 plus support instead of just hdr10. Otherwise nvidia does have better upscaling and I'd be all over a new one if they ever update their ancient hardware.

I have the second gen and I don't find the need to upgrade it. I also have the FireTV cubes and Chromecast GTV for streaming on other TVs. But this is mostly for gaming needs.

Now that they are going to remove the ability to stream from your own PC these things aren't as cool as they used to be.

People that hate on the Shield Pro have obviously never owned/used one.

I don't think they ever gave the reason they are removing Gamestream. I'm sure the answer is to push their GeForce NOW streaming service for $$$$.

This is old and overpriced.

Apple TV is better in every way.
Not audio. It is objectively worse when it comes to audio.

I've had one of these for a few years now - started being plagued by lagginess, Bluetooth issues, etc. about a year in.

Bought an Apple TV and have been much, much happier with the performance. I realize the Shield Pro is more useful for gaming, but I quickly realized that that wasn't my use case.

This Shield Pro is still awesome even today but it is a model from 2019 and should be discounted to $100 bucks by now. I have one and love it but it's worth waiting for a new model at this point rather than saving a measly $20 bucks under retail for this 3 year old model.

I am a long time shield user, I have several of these. For what I use them for - Plex server and HDHomerun server, they are very good at. I love my shields..........BUT...........

IMHO; (I am not hating on the shield, just offering my own input on my experiences, YMMV)

Until the software issues are fixed and you can update without worrying about your device working just like it was before the update, I for one can't justify the additional "premium" you have to pay for this device.

ATV, FTV, Roku all accept their updates and keep on running. This is great for the casual, non power user.

For Nvidia to keep asking a premium price for their product, they need to either do more beta testing on their updates and/or update less frequently.

Almost reminds me of the constant patching of windows the way Nvidia releases "Hotfixes"

Come on Nvidia, get your ducks in a row, you are turning a great product into a joke.

You nailed it. They think the Shield is in the same ballpark as Fire TV and Apple TV. They just don't understand the power and flexibility that these things have. Yes, it's "old" but that's irrelevant. I could say the same thing about a McIntosh tube amplifier from the 1970's. Still the best.
