You could buy one of those 2TB nvme drives on sale here for $120, slap it in a $20 case and have something with 10x the speed for a little bit more. Just built one with a WD Black 1TB nvme for $65 and a ugreen case for $20. Up to 5000mbps
That's the same as this one. The 5000 megabits of your enclosure is USB Superspeed (aka 3.0 aka 3.2 gen 1) limit, same as the one here which is 520 megaBYTES, which is 4160 megabits. That is real world speed, your enclosure's will be about the same. If the $149 deal mentioned above for 2TB of the 10 Gb version of this (USB 3.2 gen 2) is true then that's a much better one for about the same.

I have ~1.5TB of family/vaca photos & vids I'd like to back-up. Would this be a good drive to do that with? I currently back-up to a spinning disk but am concerned over time, the platter has a higher failure rate. TIA.

I have this drive - it works great. Just remember to store all data in two separate places and you will be fine.
It won't recognize it at all. Pulled it out of car, and plugged to laptop, I can see car was trying to write something. I think USB reader + endurance 256GB SD card is good enough.

I just realized it's in megabytes
Probably not. I bought a Sabrent 1TB last year for 2022 refreshed Model X and it won't work.
I ended up with a Samsung endurance card plus a card reader
