Man. If you've ever done mining before. you will know the one and only deciding factor of the mining performance is GPU memory bandwidth. And 4070 is not great to say the least.
You clearly don't have any experience there. The efficiency of a 4070 is incredible. You can make 54 cents per day with a 4070 right now, 43 with a 4080, and 93 with a 4090. Thos values have been going up steadily for the past few weeks. The 4070 is the second best GPU behind the 4090 for mining. No idea why you are complaining right now though considering that this thread is about a laptop GPU.

Geez man. If you are so right, you should at least buy 100 of them. Good investment.

Lol so at $599 MSRP for a 4070, that's just under 1200 days to break even. So 3.5 YEARS. Sure. Profitable.
The real thing keeping GPU prices high is the AI boom, which demands data centers full of GPU clusters.
As someone who owns plenty of Apple and Windows devices, I feel like I'm always trading one set of conveniences for another set of inconveniences.
Yeah, that's a good way to put it. I've been thinking about selling my 14" M1 Pro MBP 16/512 to buy a sleek Windows laptop with an Intel Arc or maybe an AMD with decent iGPU for battery and limited gaming capabilities. Don't want to lug my L5P everywhere. But it s trading all the Apple convenience for compatibility on Windows and the possibility of installing Linux. Always a trade-off it seems.
Just FYI. 4070 performs basically the same as 3070ti. 4070 is slightly better at lower resolution @ 1080p, slightly worse at higher resolution @ 4k, due to the disgustingly limited 128bit VRAM bandwidth this generation. I would expect the price to fall at least another 20% before it stabilizes a bit.
Wait what? The 4070 is 128-bit? That is completely disgusting. I'll keep my L5P 5800H/3070 thank ya very much, nVidia.

Sure 'nuff. Wow. 4070 from an architectural perspective is lower-powered than the 3070.

I get there's optimizations there, but for the price, that seems like laziness from nVidia.
