Faster SSD is not worth downgrading from M2 to M1. If you're buying these base models, you shouldn't even care about the SSD speeds which are still higher than what competitors use and let's not even discuss the fact that competitors are still using SATA SSDs and mechanical hard drives.

This is the cheapest mac mini B&h will sell you since they refuse to price match 30 bucks less for the 499 M2

You can get the M2 for $499 from Apple Education store ... you'll be happy with either one. They're all so fast it's pretty hard to tell a difference.

It's zippy all right. Don't have anyone in school at my house and my employer discount only shows the M2 for $599. So this one was still the best deal for me.
