This is probably the most affordable way to try Dirac live. Pioneer lx305 is very similar except you can't change the crossover points on each speaker just one setting for all speakers.
I picked up an open-box Pioneer VSX-LX 305 a few weeks ago for a few bucks less. I have until tomorrow to return it. I think the Pioneer has a year longer warranty. The Onkyo has adjustable X-over points. Any reason to switch?

FYSA, no pre-outs... DANG IT.
You are not going to find a current model from any manufacturer at this price point that has a full set of preouts. You will be closer to $1,000 in order to get a model with that feature.
This is tempting. My 2007 TX-SR805 is getting a bit long in the tooth. But i dont know how i feel going from a 50 pound receiver to a 20 pound receiver when they are both class AB. The only thing i would get would be Dirac and removal of the annoying 300ms audio lag. But all i need is a $20 hdmi splitter and i can feed 1080p HD audio to the onkyo and 4k to the tv set...

I always considered Pioneer to be a superior brand to Onkyo. But with PAC/Sharp(Foxconn) now owning all of Onkyo assets and the new Onkyo itself making/selling the Pioneer Audio Receivers - is it safe to assume Onkyo branded is likely on par or better than Pioneer? And my last Pioneer 9.2 I paid $1500 for was junk anyways as it bellied up in 6 years.

But the NR7100 only has 3 ports at a full 40gbps bandwidth. The other 3 is capped at 24gbs which means images will be compressed at 4k 120hz.
