For what it's worth I bought this same drive last year for ~$165 and that was an excellent price at the time. Prices have dropped been dropping for solid state drives for a while and may continue to drop.
Gen 3 vs Gen 4 doesn't really matter much for an OS drive. Random read/write benchmarks (with QD 4 or less) would be more telling of performance versus the sequential speeds.

Now if you're someone who will be copying over large files on a regular basis (such as for video editing), that's where the Gen 4 speeds will be most beneficial.

there is a thread with discover card get 10 off 50. Mine came yesterday and installed on my G14. It runs faster and smoother than my current stock Gen4. I could got 980 pro for 90 but I settle for $65 bucks. Gen4 vs Gen3 most people wont notice difference.

A typo of leaving off the percent sign.

Isn't the P31 considered superior to this drive for PCIe 3.0? Basically the same performance, but runs much cooler.
Sure, there are better drives than this. But at the moment, they're all going to cost more than $75 for 2TB.

Just search '4TB nvme' on amazon or newegg and a bunch of options will pop up.

The MP34 at $160 is probably the best price right now. 4TB drives have denser chips and they haven't seen the same price drop as these smaller drives.

This card is 3 generations older than the 990 Pro. I think the 980 Pro has gone as low as $20 more only marginally slower than the overpriced 990 Pro and it's gen 4 for future upgrades. Just my 2cents worth.

Apparently you misread what I said I was specifically mentioning Samsung not other brands.

You said "they," which is ambiguous. I also wasn't the only one to "misread" you.

This is a thread about Samsung products I didn't know I had to specifically mention Samsung on a product about them.

Just curious... why does it matter if it's Samsung? SN850x is arguably the best drive on the market and has a 4TB option.
