Nice early BF deal. Was just eyeing this model at BestBuy/Costco last week when they were on sale for $1,049. Decided to wait. Now that I know the price will indeed drop, I might see if there will be a deal on the 16GB/512GB version as we get closer to BF. -Edit- I'm a dumb dumb who can't read. This is the Air. I had been eyeing the Pro for the price mentioned above. The wait continues!
A good price for a great computer. I will say I grabbed an 8GB one like this first and while I was happy with it I was soon hitting swap memory fairly regularly.
As far as I could ever tell that didn't really affect my day to day usage at all but I opted to return it for a 16GB version so that it is more capable longer into the future because otherwise I absolutely love this machine and don't see needing to upgrade for a long time.
I was hoping this was starting to improve. Love mac but I work extensively in excel so I have to stick with a windows machine..........sucks.
You can run Windows 11 for free without emulation on a Mac. You might be pleasantly surprised how well it works - like seamlessly three-finger-swiping between full screen Mac and Windows
I would probably suggest 16GB if you're gonna run a VM though. It's one of the few scenarios where more ram makes a noticeable difference
Nice deal but I'm going to wait for the M1 Gold to hit $750 again, just missed it a week or two ago and can't justify paying $800 when I know I can get it for $750 🤣

I've been using my M1 8/256 for 2 years now with 0 lag. I read a story on Reddit the other day about someone who was having lag, and they posted their activity monitor to 40GB or ram swap from using Microsoft Edge with like 20 tabs..... If you use it like a normal computer, you'll be fine. I run Chrome with 5-6 tabs, Discord, Spotify and I have 0 issues. I have also been able to play any game I've tried (not too many, but Hearthstone, Palia, Stardew, etc...)
Odd that someone would use Microsoft Edge on MacOS.
256 GB SSD is just a crime. $300 to upgrade to 512 GB is highway robbery. macOS itself requires 25GB free space minimum, when you throw in apps and required files your looking at 50 GB+ taken up just to set up your laptop.
yea it's expensive af but the battery life on this and performance is top tier..
remember portables should have exceptional battery life..and for 1200$ that's not a bad price. Although I need more than 8gb for parallels
