Does it work? Yes.
Is the Pro faster? Of course. I think everyone knows that.
Does the Air still have a place? Absolutely.

This absolutism is absurd. Air (or laptops) only doing Word and Excel? That's insane.

MaxTech isn't what I would call a high quality reviewer, more a sensationalist.
Ok ✌️

2 weeks back when BestBuy had the first sale along with Prime Day, I was able to snag the 15" M2 8GB/256GB after reading reviews, visting Best Buy store to look at the colors, comparing specs with MacBook Pro, my powerhouse Dell XPS 15 OLED for about a week as I needed a light, reliable and sleek laptop to use for labs and bootcamps during an upcoming community event.

In the end, I decided to go for the Starlight 8GB/256 open box in excellent condition from BestBuy for ~ $900 as I told myself I don't need too much RAM for business travel. I already have the Dell XPS 15 16GB 1 TB SSD with 6GB GTX graphics card, which hasn't shown any slowdowns in performance yet for the past 2 years.

And this was the best bang for the buck for the looks, extreme lightweight and performance. I never was a fan of MacBook or Apple products, but I have to say now this is the ultimate grab and go laptop for travel.

Those who are on the fence, may wait for a 15" model to go on sale.

I traded a broken 2021 Air for this M2 Air at BB today. They gave $510 credit applied to already discounted M2 Air. Super happy!!!!

But one thing to note the keyboard on this M2 Air socks and feels flimsy compared to Lenovo or Dells.

I don't, I don't get why anyone needs more than 256 storage on a non production desktop either. 99.9% of people haven't seen a digital camera since 2010. I guess SOME people somewhere transfer their photos I guess. If ur doing editing why would you use an air? Even editors use external ssd
4K video files are huge.

PSA that Apple is having an event on Monday 10/30 which might include an announcement on new MacBooks, for those willing to wait a bit longer.

I'm heavily considering buying a MacBook, the only question I have is whether 8GB RAM is enough, as most laptops nowadays for this price have 16 or even 32GB RAM, I don't know if MacOS is lighter than Windows (which I use right now)

8gb will be fine for most "light" users but anyone using their laptop for more than browsing should consider a 16gb model.

Alright, are there any deals on a 16gb air? (No, I don't want the refurbished MC Macbook Pro, I'm not a big fan of refurbished laptops)

Correct, you can't upgrade yourself. If you want more RAM, you'll have to buy a model with preconfigured amount or go to Apple's website and configure one to your specifications and buy from there.

You do realize you can customize it to get the specs you want/need, right? Like, the feature they've offered for 15+ years now? No one is forcing you to get the base model specs.
Yes of course, but that was not the point.

Not sure that argument makes sense. A portable drive by definition is a storage media and its primary function is to store (massive amounts of) data. So yes it should have much more storage than a measly phone.

If you really did not get the other person's comment, it meant that it's a effing crying shame that a MacBook Air laptop which is a full function computing device has lesser storage than a phone that is supposed to be an ancillary computing device.

At this rate if Apple keeps skimping on these base laptop specs, with a slight exaggeration we could say that a day will come when other laptops would have more memory than storage on a MacBook!!!

Actually you would be more to correct to say 8gb will be fine for anyone but "heavy" workload users. This isn't designed for people who keep 20 browsing tabs open, while transferring gigabytes of data, and editing 4k videos, all at the same time.

It all depends on what you are going to use it for. Do buy a passenger car if your needs mean you should buy a truck.
