On the bright side, they probably sold more TotalTech memberships in a 15 minute period than they ever have before 😂

Their website says it was an early Black Friday deal for Total Tech members. Based on that, I would assume they'd have it again as a doorbuster deal on Black Friday.

They are showing the current deal -- $200 for 18TB -- now as the early BF deal (for members). I still think that $120 for 18TB was a price mistake that we won't see again!

Not if I have to buy a $50 membership to get that price. Might as well get this instead: https://serverpartdeals.com/produ...hard-drive
I got one when they had them for $210; mine appears to be a new OEM drive originally destined for Facebook.
thanks, already have plus.. a lot do looking at this thread I think

yeah, agreed. i've been buying the 14tb externals the past 3 black fridays for $200 and i was able to grab this deal before they removed it.

good on bbuy for at least honoring their ef-up. says my $120 18tb arrives tomorrow.

Always check the warranty on these things. For me, anything less than 5 yrs is a hard pass. My time doing data recovery/migration after a disk failure is worth more than $100.

I used to chase cheap storage, but then got burned when they failed right around the warranty period ... except those from 1 specific manufacturer that had failures just BEFORE the warranty was up. I didn't bother filing a claim. Just wanted that crap storage out of my systems.

Definitely a mistake. I doubt if BB would ship it.

Even $200 is a good deal.

According to posts in the $200 thread they shipped at least some and allowed in store pickups -- so kudos to BB. I had 2 in my cart (at $120) and just missed it! Frown

Doesn't WD Easystore use the least performance hard drive?
No. Same as the elements. I have 8 of the 8tb in my synology.

How do you know where it was originally going?

I went to go check the warranty with the manufacturer; WD said it was originally sold to a system manufacturer and also showed this for my drive details "PCM Drive ASM Facebook HE18 18TB SATA 4kn SE CMR".

So, did they ever ship any of these at the $120 price point?

Nice, glad I didn't waste $200 on this on BF when I know the lowest price is $120. I never pay lower than lowest sale price because that just means the margins are too high at the higher price point.

$120 isn't the lowest price, it was an error price. They marked them as $119 instead of $199. It was a typo. Don't expect these prices again.
