In the market for a 55 non-OLED for mostly sports in the garage. Debating this one, but found this interesting in the Rtings review:

Update 08/09/2023: After running on the longevity test for eight months, this TV is now showing signs of image retention or potentially burn-in. It's not visible in most real content, but in near-dark scenes, like this 5% gray uniformity slide, the CNN logo, breaking news banner, and even some text is clearly visible. It's an unexpected result for this type of TV panel. We're looking into it more to determine the nature of the image retention.

Wish this was the Roku version on sale instead of Google TV and it would have been an instant buy for me.

The price is nice. Had me thinking for a split second: "Should I upgrade the TV in the room that no one ever watches". Heh, they need a way to trade in TVs, like people trade-in cellphones. At this point they are getting so cheap, TVs are landfill hogs from all the replacements.

Almost got me to spend $400. Thanks for the temptation. Good deal.

If you get a quality streaming box, yes. If you get a dirt cheap streaming stick, no. The streaming sticks are underpowered, which is why they're so small and cheap.

Tempting. I bought a TCL tv a couple years ago and there is noticeable pixel burnout within the first 6 months (especially when there are bright colors). I don't think I'll ever buy a TCL again, but this is a decent price.

That is tempting, I got a TCL Roku on Saturday from Costco Direct, twice I turned it on, and it was a black screen, but the audio played from the source.

I'd get a Roku TV for older people who are not the most technologically inclined. For some reason, my parents just can't understand the aspect of different sources on a TV. They are in their late 60s.

True, the boxes are usually much better than sticks. However, they typically don't have built-in OTA (over the air) or cable tuners. One thing I really like about Roku TVs (rather than a TV with a Roku box) is that I can plug in a USB stick and enable 90 minute time shift. Not sure if Google TV supports this, but wife really loves the ability to pause/rewind live tv. And no, we're not paying for cable, we just use a rooftop antenna.

I've had the 55" since it's release and use it quite heavily for video games and general content watching.

I also have the 75" and I have had that for a yr and my kid watches stuff with static content all the time. You are never going to reproduce the issues RTINGS did with an led.

Unless of course you are purposely trying to burn content in for a test because you are reviewing it.
