Nonsense. Normal people who just use a computer don't backup data but anyone needing 18tbs knows how things work.

I would get this personally. While I don't subscribe to Seagate all being garbage, these WD that I've gotten have all been Helioseal drives (based on HGST designs) and have been cool, quiet, and fast. The initial ones were PWDIS which meant you had to tape the pin, cut it, or use an adapter, but the latest ones haven't been PWDIS so no issues.

Can anyone tell me how much power do these draw? Will it be fine if I use it for Plex connected to a raspberry pi? I'm assuming since there is an AC adapter, it will not draw much from the raspberry pi.

I (almost) never buy single drives. For long term back up, every purchase is in multiples of two, regardless of size (e.g., two+ each of 12TB, 18TB, 20TB, etc.). Short term/temp back ups can be handled on single drives without concern IMO.

Some people possibly don't care because they think data loss will never happen. Unfortunately, however, some refuse to learn, or they simply can't, even when warned 50x.

Hmmm...need about $36 worth of fillers to get the $25 Amex off 250 offer. Can't find anything else I need that is not stupidly priced at Best Buy. K-cups are too pricey vs Amazon. Don't need my passports...Norton 360 is digital only and would not get me there anyway. Any other ideas.

I have a 8tb WD red that must be 12 years old if not older, used daily an still going strong. Have 6 or 7 WD's (10-12 tb) off to the side of it for extra storage, 2 14tb still in the box from last black friday, Why am I thinking about getting this? My important porn is backed up on 50gig blurays. In which I will never find again, fast and easier to just redownload it. But yet, I feel I need to get this.

Thanks, I might just by 5 (or whatever the max is) with my 3% CC for now. I'll have to buy at least another 5 later and I can use the Chase then.

Do you mean the quarterly 5% cash back or is there a special offer ongoing? The card I have coming is a Flex.
