MacBook Air is designed as an ultra light laptop for on the go uses. Safari web browsing, etc. Not "work".

True, you just need to be conscious of what you have open. And people who complain should probably move to the pro series MacBook for their use cases

What's your use case and what machine do you have.

With any laptop deals posted anywhere, you have the responsibility to determine if it's right for you. For many, 8gb is fine. My $400 mac mini m1 from two years ago has been great and I have no complaints for what I do for it.

8GB with Apple Silicon is better than 8GB with an intel MacBook Pro from 2015, but I'd still opt for 16+ going forward. I have a 8GB Air, and I would never buy another. It's workable, but don't do it to yourself if you can avoid it.

Just buy the M1.

These things are beasts for basic tasks, and I don't think an M2 will give a significant advantage
