I wouldn't buy this unless you are on a very strict budget. For $150 more, you can get a modern design, an M2 chip, and 16GB of RAM.

Totally agree - for $150 more you get a ton more value. Walmart should be selling these for $500 or lower at this point.

Last month, Costco had a promotion, M2, 8GB RAM and 256GB SSD for $700.
For a college kid, that was more than enough.

499 would have been a better price, might as well pay 150 more for M2 air. M1 is available for 440 refurb from Bestbuy

May be possible to combine with the Edge 30% Cashback offered tomorrow. Be careful though and check the small print when it appears tomorrow as some product categories may be excluded. As an example I claimed the Newegg Cashback yesterday but the fine print specified only applies to flash memory though they did have a 15% Cashback storewide

Tried searching on google, but I don't see a list or any mention of how much cash back they offer for different retailers. Do you need to use Microsoft edge browser for it?

I think that is correct as I'm using the Edge browser. No worries about using it though, Edge has improved a lot compared to the old times when it was so slow and bad at RAM and CPU management. Once you install Edge, when you go to a merchant site like Newegg or Walmart you will see a blue tag icon on the website address bar on the right, click on it and you can see more information about available cashback on that merchant site and click in the submenu to see more offers

600 is really bad price for this considering for $150 you can get an M2 Air which should get an extra 2 years of MacOS software support and an extra 8GB of ram. If you plan on buying a laptop and keeping it forever, the M3 Air is the cheapest on a per-day basis followed by the M2 Air if you take into account the likely MacOS support that the laptops should be getting.

Apple tiered pricing. Doesn't matter which you buy there's a better apple product out there for only $150 more

I was using an M1 Air until very recently and it's still a solid machine even with the 8gb of RAM. For the casual user who knows literally nothing about computers, this is still a solid starter Macbook.

Having said that, I would pay the $150 or even $250 to upgrade to the M2 or M3.
