looks like they're trying to capture the super casual user segment…

That RAM is rough.

IDK, if it's the "super casual market", the RAM is great. In fact, I bet for most users the RAM is still just fine

I know not everyone has an extra $250 but if you do then the M4 MBA with 16GB RAM is the better option.

Given rumors of a low priced MacBook that uses an iPhone chip, I wouldn't be surprised if they're exploring price elasticity ahead of pricing the new MacBook, especially since performance should be on par with this machine. All things being equal, the used M1 Pro MacBook Pro deal for $725 feels like much better value unless thin and light is the primary need.

No, whether you have extra 250 or not, the 16G is always the better option. If you do, buy the 16G at $850 which is still worth it, if not, buy super good windows OLED 16G thin and light at $600 which is also very good deal. Stay away with 4yr old stock Apple 8GB ewaste. they haven't been sold on for 4 years for a reason

I can't even consider this when a new m4 with 16gb ram is $850.

Just received this on my deals feed from Wal-Mart if anyone is looking for such deal. It is a shame as I'm looking for a laptop deal with more memory and storage for a college student majoring in computer science preferably a Windows based 2-in-1 for easy note taking

It's not 4YO stock. Apple made a deal with Walmart to continue manufacturing and selling the M1 MBA.

Is the $600 OLED windows laptop an actual deal? Have a link?
