Too expensive for a 5 year old laptop. Especially one with only 8GB RAM.

Why when you can buy a M2/16/256 for $699?

5 year old laptop, with...8gb of ram? for $600+ lol. ok.

I spent $219 for a Dell refurb, newer than that, with 16gb ram + 512gb ssd. And it has a touchscreen, something that Fruit Computers are allergic to. In fact, it swings around to be a tablet AND a laptop.

This is not a good value, wake me up when it's half this price.

You missed the boat on that one but the $699-$749 price isn't a fluke. I'd wait for that to come back than sink money into an M1 for $629.

This is still the cheapest it has ever been. 6 months ago, it was FP at $649, but yes back then we didn't have the 16GB M2 for $699-749.
I just wanted people to have more options and also serve as a reference that now this is the lowest price for this config.

It may be the "cheapest", but I'd implore someone who is wanting a silicon MBA to just wait for a much cheaper price as Apple is seemingly strategically clearing out their 8gb ram models and creating base model SKUs for their 16gb models so they can run their Apple Intelligence items. Makes more sense, too. One may even type that they should have did this 3-4 years ago so more folks could have it at their grasps....

I'd love to get my kid a M1 but it gotta be $500 or less if it's 8gb.

Also, the M4 is incoming in a few days. That will have a downward pressure effect on the older models. I'd wait at least a few weeks.
