A very good deal. But seems no PD charging/DisplayPort via USB-C.
Also available for the same price from Best Buy via eBay [ebay.com]

Backlit keyboards should be standard - Agreed.

In this particular case, no backlit keyboard DOES NOT kill the deal (IMO).

Question, what's so special about this laptop? Is it the cpu that's the selling point?
Special? Under $400 for a decent 16" laptop with a very capable processor, 12GB of RAM (instead of the minimum 8GB) and 512GB SSD. I have one and the display is good -- bright enough, etc., but not equivalent to anything much more expensive.

As others have said, it is a shame the USB-C ports don't do PD-charging and that the keyboard isn't backlit. If you can live with those cons, this is an otherwise specially good deal on a decent laptop.

I bought mine at the beginning of the month and this price is a little cheaper and BB has price matched and given me a credit for the difference.

"At this price point"? YES. You'd be hard-pressed to find a new laptop with this level of performance and included hardware for $380.

It should be noted the screen resolution is incorrectly stated here and on Best Buy site.
It's a 16" screen therefore a 16:10 aspect and the resolution is 1920x1200 instead of 1080.

No Backlit keyboard kills the deal. That should be standard on laptops these days.
And no usb c PD. I'd much rather get an open box of any better model than sacrifice lots specs

New? No. Maybe if you are willing to spend $200 more, then yes for sure.

However if budget is paramount, you'd be better off finding open box at best buy. They have so many better models at prices very close to this, open box of course

Minor inconveniences for us pre-millennials. Doesn't kill the deal.

History shows (my history, that is) open boxes can have gremlins lurking inside. Just saying.

Yes, it would more than suit her needs. If anything, I'd recommend adding a little more RAM.

No charging over usb c is a deal breaker for me. But at this price point guess you can't complain.

Review for anyone interested.

Thanks for the heads up.
That kills the deal for me.

Would be nice as a chromebook alternative that actually has full windows support

Screen would be ok as immersive but high fps or game streaming would be cool

Good for the $$. I have a smaller Asus Zenbook with a 5500 and have been very pleased with it for the price. This one is a better cpu, 8 core vs my 6 core.
