You can bypass that by tapping four corners from top left, top right, bottom right, bottom left, do it for two more time in the same order, so total 12 tap, then press volume down, after that you will able to connect to wifi and set up without SIM.

Just FYI, if you want this tablet unlock after 180 days and you don't intent to keep your metro phone number , it's better to activate your tablet with metro sim as soon as possible. Otherwise this could happen:
1. It's time to pay your next metro phone bill, metro will charge you $40, it will charge from the $20 which you have paid for the tablet first, but of course that's not enough, so you still have a $20 due on your account.
2. After this point, you can't activate your tablet since you don't have $20 to pay the first month tablet charge any more...
3. Then your stable could be locked to metro forever since it never get activated on metro.

Turn OFF RAM plus under Device Care-> Memory
ENABLE "Reduce transparency and blue" under Accessibility--> Vision enhancement
This sped up my tablet a lot.

As per Samsung: Remove animations: Tap this to negate screen effects from apps if your eyes are sensitive to animations. It can also help speed up your device a little.

You can't just swap sims like on other carriers -- your online account or Metro app should have option for "switch phone" for free (you can phone their CS but they'll charge a service fee)
It won't let me sign in. Should I open the box and activate the phone to get the tablet deal?

You can try activating it to see if it still has unused service (doubt it) -- I think you'll need an active line to get tablet deal
Except now I can't use the imei to sign up again because it's associated with an account now, and I can't get into said account to pay because I never paid or got a phone number to login with.
Any tips?
If this works out, it may be worth finding these and buying those if they're >6mo old, so you can have an unlocked tablet off the bat. Mine only cost $55 which is nearly the same as a month of phone and tablet service.

Did you get a Metro phone and you haven't yet activated it? If so, that's why. I was waiting on an iPhone 11 i got for $40 by adding a line to my Moto Stylus 5G phone, and since I hadn't yet activated the iPhone 11, it wouldn't let me get the tablet for $20. Once I received the iPhone 11, I activated it, and then went back to get the tablet and bam, I was able to add it to cart and buy it for $20 no problem
Yes mine did today.
For Samsung devices from Metro (or any other US carrier), you need to flash U1 firmware when possible or set the CSC to XAA if you can't. I can flash the Galaxy A15 5G to U1 firmware and it removes the bloatware but on the Galaxy Tab A7 Lite I must set the CSC to XAA and keep the SIM card removed.
If you want all the bloatware after you've unlocked your tablet, simply insert a SIM from each carrier and let it reboot and install everything 😆
