Same. I know this isn't a "premium" tablet but even with the 8gb of ram it feels sluggish right out of the box. Probably going to send it back and find something else
Yes. I had the tablet and returned it for this very reason.
I paid $10 more a few days ago. The tablet is decent but hasn't wowed me (a bit sluggish and scfeen qualoty is just average) so debating whether to keep it.

Check out the Tab S9 FE, it's $350 with DeX support.
It doesn't support external monitors which is one of the main features of Dex
Can the Galaxy Tab S9 FE connect to an external monitor in DeX mode, and does it support the Wireless DeX model?
Tab S9 FE series does not support DisplayPort Out, and therefore, it does not support wired or wireless DeX. However, you can utilize the standalone DeX mode found in Settings > Connected devices > Samsung DeX for an enhanced tablet experience when using a keyboard and mouse with the Book Cover keyboard connected.
What Android phone or tablet are you considering?
I was looking for Samsung tablet that supports Dex but the cheapest one is in the $500-$700 range. Might as well get the S24 Ultra for that price.
I bought an S9 FE 128 GB. I haven't opened it yet, so I can't comment on it's performance. It is currently $350 at Best Buy.
I'm thinking I'll trade it in toward a version of the S10 in August, depending on deals. The S7 FE has a pretty good trade in value at times toward different versions of the S9.
Although I also plan to upgrade to the Flip6, so that might be a better route to a bundle deal?
I have a Flip5 right now and love it, especially when working out, or working around the house. I did add Samsung insurance. I pay $7.70 monthly, because I always planned to trade it in after 1 year, so I didn't want to pre-pay for 2 years

I bought an S24 Ultra, but sold it right away, only because my son has "borrowed" quite a bit of money lately for doctor bills, vet bills, a car repair, etc.
I'm using an A53 as a second phone now. I find it pretty decent for listening to music and light web browsing, etc. I wish they were bring the A55 to the US
I got this for $30 when I ordered my s24 ultra using the promotional credit of $150. It's much better than the A8 and recently just got a android 14 update. However, I wouldn't pay this much for it.
I was in the same boat. I ended up upgrading to the Lenovo P11 Pro Gen 2 when it was on sale a few months back for around $220. The Nexus 7 was kind of an anomaly and ahead of its time. Hard to find something that feature rich without paying an arm and leg. The P11 was the closest I could get to something affordable with a nice display that wasn't total trash it's much larger than the Nexus 7. Smaller tablets fell out of fashion now that smart phones are massive and close in size. Aside from that you are limited to the Amazon tablets which are atrocious or the Samsung tablets which are really expensive to get the good models. The cheaper ones are pretty rough barebones. IPad are pretty good but you're switching to Apple ecosystem.
Agreed that it's a shame there doesn't seem to be any decent performing tablets under 10 inches from the Android side.
Absolutely not. At $250, iPad 9 is king of value for relatively high quality tablet. Great for young children and old people too, same thing can't be said about Android tablet

Yes, edu and trade in. At the time, 8gb was priced down to 4gb price, $199.

No, the iPad 9 has a way better processor, a more robust app library, more options for accessories, better performance, and more reliability.
Despite the aging design, I'd go for that at $250 over the A9+.
