This is a no-brainer deal for anyone wanting to get an Atmos system. I got this last year and I have never gone above volume 20 in my apartment 🤣...try top gun maverick with it and you'll see that the hype is not exaggerated.

When you placed your order, what was the shipping date estimate provided? i.e. was the original estimate different from 03/25?
4/4 was the original.

The bar only receives audio signal from the tv and has nothing to do with the video. If you only care about 4k@120 and don't care about DTS or PCM audio, the 990c is what you need.
How is DTS relevant? Does it not support it?

Lg C1 tv does not support DTS passthrough. It will down-mix the DTS signal and pass it to the bar.

I see. So you can plug the PS5/Xbox into the soundbar to have true DTS, but then the soundbar won't pass the 4K 120hz video signal to the TV. Or you can plug the Xbox/PS5 directly into the TV to keep the 4K 120hz signal, but then the TV won't pass actual DTS (it'll be scaled down to 5.1) to the soundbar. Is that right?

Very helpful, thank you! The new Q990D has a nice new feature called Private Listening which can send sound to rears only for lower volume listening at night. Does Samsung usually enable these features via software updates for older models like the Q990C?
Probably not, but there haven't been many new features added to b,c,d other than each having better "space fit pro" whatever that means. There isn't much precedent for this so anybody's guee. However, they all have a night mode that will get the trick done.

The biggest change in the D over the rest is 1. HDMI 2.1 and 2. Possibly (and just a long shot rumor) D may get compatibility with music frames. How? Either has a substitute or in addition to.

My q900c hasn't shipped yet and I'm in a dilemma.

My 900c is 510 otd after tax and rebate and all that. I got a set of 9500s speakers for 80 bucks, so 590 in

Or pay 730 for the q990c?

Only issue is my couch is against the wall, so I see on google for the 9500s you just put them beside the couch (literally next to it) or in my case wall mounted beside it, and have them pointing inwards infront of person not at them.

would i benefit or notice much from 900c + 9500s vs 990 with my couch against wall ans speakers wall mounted closely to each side?

900, and 9500 is like 150 bucka cheaper all said done

Correct. Now that the 990D has HDMI 2.1 support (4k @120), it should, on paper, solve this issue and take the tv out of the equation.

That's actually super nice feature shame

I am with you the same, I don't think its worth it for just 2 rear side firing channel to pay the extra 150 bucks. It doesn't make sense especially since your rear speaker just right behind you. I bet you can't really tell the difference when listening.
