text is super sharp. but some old apps don't scale well, and that's the main issue.

IMO the QHD models with USB-C hub and upstream charging around the same price are more useful than 4k on a 27" productivity screen.
The extra/clunky cables and need for a dock is a pain and adds significant cost if you don't already own one.

I had to add just over an additional $100 for my setup in the hub and adapters cost.

I have a 28" ASUS 4k and a 27" LG 4k and noticed that the 28" ASUS can go 125% and still have good workspace while on the LG, I have to go down to 100% to get the amount of data I want to show.
My layout:
Top Left - Outlook - sized about 2/3 to show all my quick steps (4 columns)
Top Mid/Right - Teams - sized about 1/4 ensuring that chat contacts are not hidden
Top Right - Task manager - sized 1/16 only showing the small graphs
Bottom Right - Chrome - sized half screen
Bottom Left - Edge - sized half screen
EDIT:
I tried 100% QHD and it's not enough for me. I'd rather 1x4k + a second FHD (or larger) monitor.
At home, I have 4k + FHD (portrait) + Laptop WUXGA. I really want a QHD in portrait as 1080 in portrait isn't very useful. Hell, even a WUXGA in portrait may be enough.

It should be fine if you only have 1 monitor. For me, the 32 is too wide, and it forces my side monitors way too far to the side.
Depends on your setup, but just the heads up you should do a quick visualization
